Very great concept arts. I wish i had 1% of your talent as an artist :)
My apologize for being fussy, but the chess piece analogy is in a wrong order (maybe i understood something wrong i am not a native speaker).

It's for me an awkward question:
Isn't the right order: Queen (9 points), Rook (5 points), Bishop/Knight (3 points) and Pawn (1 Point) ?

I'm sure you are right I don't play very much chess and based the analogy on the start position of the pieces. I will adjust accordingly. :)

@Sinclair I'm glad someone else was willing to be the "fussy" one :)

@caravaggiosWolf Your ample creativity and artistic finesse make up for not playing very much chess. We still love you (and your work)!

Some exploration of a cannon fodder enemy type that flies short distances. Let's call them Dark Spawn for now. The inspiration for is a flying monkey/gargoyle looking creature that has the ability to use weapons and wear armor. You can see how the idea came about on PotA:

After researching some ides I block in a rough silhouette and erase away the negative space. Silhouette is crucial to quick enemy identification for the player.

Very nice looking variety. The large ones looking really scary. Would be intresting to know, how many players are needed to get one of them down. ^^

We have had a bit of help from one of Issac's students, Brett. He explored some interesting wildlife/enemies, the Bug Pods.

The concept is "nothing is quite as it seems". The pawn is a pod that has a bug that crawls out of it. The knight is a floating pod that explodes when it gets close to you. The bishop is a pod that attacks you with it's paralyzing tentacles. The rook is a larger version of the bishop that also plants pods on the ceiling that have bugs that swarm out of it and the queen creates the pods.

Love the 'family' of creature that invokes! And that each level has a different type of specialization. Should be found in large groups or swarms.

I just realized that bottom middle is an egg and not a Xorn. I miss the Xorn.

First post, third image, monster number 5. I want to tame this beast and have it guard my home.

All of these creatures look great! Thank you for sharing the concepts.

This is a great idea, one I have always wondered about myself in other games, thanks for posting that. I think it would be more compelling to see npc creatures interacting in this way. I always hated in other games when you disturb two spawns of unrelated monsters and/or creatures and they both decide to attack you. I think it would be cool if for once when attacking an orc and the random wolf pack add would also attack the orcs instead of always attacking me, or even if the pack attacked me and the orcs. I think this would make the game world seem more real and less like a game where all mobs are just spawns waiting to attack the players, in a sense giving the game a more realistic eco system.
