    Hello Lords and Ladies,

So I finally got to get some play time today and decided I would go search around for places to kill stuff for loot and levels.

I did this to test the financial viability of a mage.

I must be doing something wrong because at level 8:

I have to equip a shield or I die........ alot.

I have to wear leather armor or I die alot.

My immolation spell only works 1 outta every 5 or 6 times (I think the graphic is breaking).

Casting fireball does very little damage for the 120. (I'm not ig so i dont know how accurate this is) gold. Most monsters i can kill only give about 10 gold worth of stuff so obviously fireball is for higher levels but I find it weak...

I ALWAYS run out of focus even though I do not use locked glyphs (i pumped focus enough to where its slow enough).

I can only kill 1 normal skeleton in Solace Bridge (sp?) before succumbing to another monster

I cannot kill 1 timberwolf without drinking 3 potions

I could go on but I don't wanna nag.

So tell me what I am doing wrong :/

I love the new stuff in this patch game is muuuuuuch more challenging I friggin love it 8^)

It is hard to be mage before level 20. I died a lot before I got to level 10. I used 5 flame fists and 5 death touches (you might want to use heal as well). And my points between focus tree (quick dealing of glyphs, Int, and slightly bigger hand), death innate and fire innate.

Using reagent requiring spells is too expensive. Do not do it until yougathered lots of reagents or got gold.

PS: You do nto need reagents, only higher level spells will fizzle a lot and cost you more focus.

Oh, also you can easily level up to 20ish level by doing quests, or those easy ones that do not require you to fight (too much). Just keep asking NPCs about how you can help them.

I've seen no mages stack Earth for damage resistances/avoidance? I started this at level 8 and can easily kill groups of skeletons with ease. Throw on some healing spells and some fire for burns and it should be pretty simple. If you're ok with dropping a little fizzle put on plate pants for a 3~5 damage resistance, 1~2 damage avoidance bonus with only a 6% fizzle change.

Hi, getting a couple of Defensive Stance from the Tactics tree helped me a lot during the early levels, it gives you quite a lot of damage resistance for 60 seconds. If you stack the 2 of them together before you cast them it also saves you a lot of focus too:)

Take a Wrasse Egg to Harry the Vendor in Kingsport and tell him "sell dragon egg" He will give you 5000 xp. You can find eggs in the Dragon's Cave, kinda hard to find but they are there. Or buy one from a public vendor.

Also doesnt help with combat being seriously buggy at the moment. Spells get stuck whilst being cast (they dont hit) and healing in combat is a nightmare and doesnt always work.

Yeah, this go around seems to be a bit more buggy than past updates. I don't know why , unless it is the upgrade to the new engine? I also notice I am getting a lot of lag in the big cities too, and I have a pretty beefy rig. I am sure they will get it sorted out.
