I'm sure this is covered elsewhere, but .........

On my combat bar, each glyph as a percentage under it, like 94% for flame fist, 70% for death touch, etc. I assume these are chances to successfully cast/not fizzle.

How do I raise these? It doesn't seem like raising intelligence or focus helps. Is it simply a matter of leveling? Can I ever do better than 94% success rate? Thanks for any advice.

First the obvious, armor affects fizzle rate in a negative way. All plate, chain, and leather pieces affect fizzle chance in differing amounts. Check each piece of armor that you wear to see if it affects fizzle in a negative way.

The is a skill in the focus tree that reduces fizzle chance.

Spells that require reagents have lower fizzle chance when you have the necessary reagents. Even have one of the reagents seems to affect fizzle rate.

Thanks. Does anyone know if leveling has an effect on fizzle? All other things being equal, does a level 50 mage have less fizzle chance than a level 40 mage?

Leveling has imho no effect on fizzle chance.

'Follow Through'. With this innate skill you can reduce the fizzle chance of all glyphs to -10% if maxed out(cost: 15 skill points).

Two things what the above poster said about adding in focus the -10% chance and also using reagents which will make you fizzle even less or at all.

So is there a chance of success if you don't have the necessary reagents?

Yes, check the spells in the skill tree. They'll show you the fizzle chance. (Also you see it on the glyphs in the combat bar.)

As you add reagents into your inventory, you'll see the fizzle chance change.

As I see it right now there is no level 50 mage or warrior, you are just a level 50 char.

Fizzle will also see a bit of change soon, with earth and life magic receiving less of a penalty from armour fizzle than other skill trees.
