cotton

is it just me or are the cotton plants not working right. dosnt matter what scene i am in they all are almost always non harvest-able. dosnt matter if its a instance or actual scene

 

Haven't been on since day before yesterday, no problems with them then.
Check in bug forum if it's mentioned if not fill one out
Btw if they are brownish instead of white they have already been harvested and you need to wait for a respawn.

From how I understand it : Each zone in the game has a finite number of resources. Each instance of that zone decrements that finite number whenever someone harvests something.

Eventually that number reaches zero, and the nodes stop spawning.

Presumably, the number is refreshed after a certain amount of time, and the nodes start populating again.

I suspect you are simply visiting zones which are being over-harvested by other players.

You may want to try a different area and see if you fair better.

 

i agree i think their is a spawn timer broken cause when i refresh through a scene 5 times and all scenes are the same

 

and that is on multiple scenes

 

i want to say thanks for you answers it does make sense i dont need cotton myself its an observation and was curious about it

 

Best way to check would be run around the overland map until you get pulled into a random encounter - in my experience they always have one or two cotton bushes that can be harvested, as well as a few that are 'dead', and the instance is just for you so no danger someone else got there first. If you get pulled in and find that none of the nodes are active, could well be a bug, otherwise probably just bad luck/playing at a time when you're competing with other players for resource nodes. I find foraging and mining nodes are usually the hardest to get when other people are in the scene.

 

i was pulled into 3 instances tonight. collectively searched each instance and out of all the available cotton plants only one had cotton on it

 

Most instance only have a bush or two at most to harvest - they normally have the mobs for loot, about 2 ores to mine and two to three trees to chop. The tree sometimes regrows itself once.

 

I think it's also likely that there's a higher demand for the cotton nodes this release with the Chaperon requiring the rich staple cotton.

 

I thought the random encounters were just for you as well. But right now I just got pulled into two different encounters while not grouped. The first already had four dead bandits and another character cutting down a tree. The second I was in first and by he time I started to harvest the second half of my route another player was in the scene harvesting.
