Why is Augmented Armor in game?

    For what its worth - I played my death/fire mage in the starter armor up to level 40 - just starting to craft now.

    Wait a minute, the royal founder armor is better than augmented or crafted gear?? I think that's not good...

    Can't speak for RF armor as I'm not a RF but right now the cloth shoes and gloves that I started this release with have better stats then the epic leather version I'be found.

    and that to me is a pretty big issue. I also don't know anyone who even bother with chain.... Someone was trying to explain to me that Leather armour was 4 x better than cloth, chain being 8x and plate being 10 or 12 x But I can't find this anywhere and why wouldnt this be shown in the basic stats?

    I am guessing with crafting we will eventually get crit chances to make augmented and or epic versions to increase base stats?

    As Bwtdozer said, running around in a mix of cloth and leather gear because the defence values of the cloth are higher than the leather is just plain wrong...

    I think it's temporary, I've listened to many videos discussing player only armor and weapons on NPC shopkeepers, could be wrong, but I'd be cooler to see player only stuff on there to give an incentive to even become a blacksmith/crafter

    Amen to that. I think I'd like to try for master level leatherworking but only if it's worth it.

    Since someone has reawoken this thread, I'll add a minor contribution. When crafting armour I always discard any item for which I do not receive a "crit".
    Eventually I end up with a crafted set of armour that is better than any that I can loot from a dungeon or purchase from an NPC.

    Mining Nickel for 6 Meteor plates (18 ingots) and needing double to crit x(#attempts) is fairly insane, but cool for longevity perhaps.

    +3 str = not worth it however

    cloth is the same deal if you need that many Spider Carapaces

    No sure if this is new, but I had a secondary material 'crit' while crafting. An extra white metal binding ended up giving 2 str mods on my plate leggings
