Mailbox! Need mailboxes!

    Ultima Online has both - mailboxes for items and notes in books and a bulletin board, where everyone can leave a note.
    The only think I dislike there besides the US mailbox style as the only format choice, its not very visible for the owner, that there is new, unchecked/unseen content. Oh and house security settings should have no impact on the ability to add items/content to the mailbox.

    So none of you checked out the link I provided where Richard Garriott talks about his "grand vision" for Public Chests?

    It has a huge "don't lawyer me bro" but still...
    • chest permissions per chest
    • leave an item to take an item - one in one out
    • only leave an item
    • visually see what the function is
    • voting boxes
    • coin slot at top drawer at bottom

    This (more permission choices for containers) makes the most sense. Courtesy would require you to have a side table with paper on it for folks to write on to leave you notes. Perhaps a title could be applied to your container. Instead of being labeled wooden chest when you hover over, or open the container, it would say : Joe's Mailbox"
