What is your spookiest moment in SOTA recently? For me it came in Owls Head. The sun was shining, the birds singing, my guard down as I shopped for a fruit basket with a merchant. Then, suddenly, I sensed I was being watched, as if heavy breathing was upon my neck. Turning to see that which was behind me, my field of view immediately filled with the image of a massive cow head right in my face. I jumped out of my seat! Cows are slow, silent, creepy predators that sneak up on you. This cow had left his field and come right to the vendor, his mouth upon me ready to chomp! I quickly moved to the next vendor, then the next. Each time the cow followed. I hastily exited to the nearest lunar rift. Be warned. Owls Head is not safe!
Mine must have been when I discovered the dungeon in Owls Head city wall (I don't remember the name now). I killed the first guards that threatened me and it was then when I tried to open the chest in the floor to get the loot. Yep, you know what happened. It suddenly had teeth and tried to eat me alive. I didn't know that thing existed. I jumped off my seat too. I still wake up at nights frightened by the nightmare. (Ok, maybe that's a bit dramatic, just to be in the mood )
I was standing in an open field and a player fell out of the sky and died at my feet.. still confused and worried.
I was strolling on the overworld map near Graff Gem Mine when I was pulled into a random encounter. I looked around in all directions, but there was nothing to be seen but empty grassland. Suddenly a giant shadow blocked the light of the sun above me and I was dead.
Spookiest? Hmm, I was running the Ardoris-Kingsport-Owl's Head, public vendor circuit....and I didn't meet a single player. Not even a gustball whack to be heard. ...then I realized I must have switched into single player at some point...
Swaying tree limbs near the camera, sticks in the water, and similar items tend to make me jump after spending far too many hours among the red spiders in the Mysterious Swamp.
My spookiest moment so far has been when I went mining (in one of the mines)... I had my volume up pretty loud... but, WOW... I was in heaven listening to the background music... ~i
