Right? Currently the fastest way to reduce fizzle 'on the fly' would be to disarm my chest armour lol! And I do! Then quickly put it back on and get into a fight... so.. what is more realistic.. that I can sheath my weapons and reduce fizzle sufficiently, or that I can take off my chest piece and get the same benefit (minus some defense for that split moment).

My hands are free to cast, if my weapons are sheathed :)

    Very good point.

Considering also that the fizzle given by weapons is massive.

    I approve!

Hopefully they will have made wands and staves viable before adding fizzle to weapons. Currently my mage has to use a pole arm or have a huge problem staying alive. I agree fizzle should be effected by using weapons tho.

staves and wands should not have a fizzle chance, as they are magic weapons. melee weapons should have fizzle. daggers should have the least, especialy if on the offhand, while the larger, heavier, weapons should have more fizzle.

Yes, and along with staves and wands, we should see bonuses to casting using nothing and spellbooks should be implimented. Wizards are a funny animal, loves their variety of spell weaving :)

Yes, if fizzle is reduced for the 'battle mage' type with sheathed weapons, then the pure mage with fizzle-less wands should have some sort of spell buff.. maybe :) It is an interesting idea, and I like the idea of holding onto a spellbook for some sort of buff... hmm I sure hope they make magery as awesome as it could be.. but I feel that magery and the weapons have a lot of work to come yet... :(

good gods we do, at that. i'd love to have a spell tome as a focus offhand and even one primary, combine them and its lke a pen and paper drawing up the weave to help focusing on the energies themselves. both would have bonus to magic casting focus regen and the likes, without much in the way of the physical buffs for melee weapons - but combined, it should be its own combat multiplier.
i'd prefer to play like that, than to have dual wands or a stave.
