    I remember logging in for the first laggy time, looking around at this new world and finding out that my start up gold had just been stolen from me. lol The first of many times to come. What a great game, I am just sorry they didn't have the foresight to release UO2.

    Ultima Online was my first MMO and it was great for 6 years, always spent ages tooling around looking at people's houses in between trying to GM my seven skills. Earth elementals come to mind. Did eventually jump ship to go play WoW once UOX got cancelled, but happy to be back now at SOTA which just gets better and better with each release.

    It always amazed me that every attempt at UO2 was canned because they feared it would steal subscribers from UO1. AS IF other companies weren't already out there trying to cannibalize every other games' subscribership. Including, now, this one :D

    I also still have a 19th year account, mostly used as a memorial to the visceral memories created by a pioneering player town and its community in game. Happy birthday UO. Onward to 20!

    I remember pvp being all about your Internet connection...camping daily rare spawns...placing a keep when they opened up trammel...then selling it on ebay for 2k...being one of 2 American guilds on the Japanese server...scamming people when then released items in their house...ah, the good old days

    I think I speak for many when I say that the best way to reminisce is to listen to the sounds and songs. For that reason, I'll be performing "Rule, Britannia!" by flute outside of Brittany for the next hour.

    I remember the first day as well. I was young, but still fascinated: "A roleplaying game, played with lots of other people?" And that fascination held me for a number of years after. UO was magical. To all the Portalarium staff here that were involved in Ultima Online's development: never forget what you accomplished. You deserve the praise.
