Pet decay?

So, I leveled up exploding corpse enough to get me a skele, was overjoyed, cast him, and he gets say 35 hp which he loses at a rate of like 5 a second.. Are all pets like this? considering we were standing in town and he wasnt being hit, a couple of good hits, with that decay and hes gone! is this normal?

 

no, just the undead ones

 

There is also an innate in the death tree, "Mummified Undead", which makes the decay slower.

 

ok, getting to mummified undead looks hard as the skill its dependant on didnt seem to go up with death touch.. only exploding corpse.. ok so this will be a big challenge, cos Id kinda like my skele to live to at least do a few fights, it never dawned on me he'd die just because he lived.. Ive never had a pet that dies like a fish in air..

 

You can cast him several times. But the skeleton will decay no matter what.

 

OK.. i took him down a nearby swamp and he actually did better in a fight than I thought considering his rate of decay, it was either the decay stopped while he fought, or, he sucked life back out of things he was killing.. but this will be a very new journey.. very odd

At least his blu-ish part armor is quite cool to look at. I have my Skele and the Lich too, and the decay is still not great in the lv 60s. (about 5 HP/sec)

Hope it gets better at 80 and beyond. (with the slow decay skill at lv80 as well)

 

You're likely to get there long before me do let me know. I feel sad that my skele is basically a short lived thing and even me throwing heals at it doesnt seem to help much I know my heals suck a bit but it almost felt like he died quicker the more I healed him (which I know isnt the case but I guess because you're trying to save them it seems shorter than you expected)

 

Just get used to casting him lots, I've found the skele pet hits better than a lot of the pets, and the decay is almost justified. Better yet, the Lich is even stronger! Reagent costs sure suck tho, with these pets.

In most cases, the xp needed to level these pets could be better spent in Death Field and Death Shield.. but attunement does make training these pets necessary.

 

Yeah, the magic summons all need significant love from the devs, especially for the time it takes to unlock most of them. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem they are likely to get any anytime soon. We've been asking for some attention for them since taming first went live and made them effectively worthless.

Can you defeat a lich yet? If so, I think the guy you need to talk to is in Necropolis Barrens.

specific location is -53.0, 75.2, -106.3, and it is possible to get to him at low level by climbing hills and then jumping between them (i.e. you don't have to fight if you don't want to) but his quest will probably require team/really high level character to solo

I can also get the quest information for who you have to kill if desired.
