Oracle: "You are not following the path of Love" (spoilers)

I'm a newbie (game was recommended by a friend and I'm not afraid of pre-release). I was advised to pick the Path of Love due to its being more complete than the others, so I did. I've done all the quests in Soltown and made my way to Ardoris. The only quests other than the main one that I've found are these two:

* I think I messed up the barmaid quest by telling her to leave him
* The "black arrow" quest for the evil guard appears to be bugged (saw this in another thread)

I walked up to the Necropolis (the next step for me on the Path of Love), saw the 5 skulls, and said "Oh my dear cousin Oopsie, we'll be back later!" I've been hunting bandits and wolves in 2-skull zones because that is where my level is at. Today, I went up to the Oracle, and got told off royally that I was not on the Path of Love, do not pass Go, do not collect 500GP.

What is a ranger to do when she can't do her assigned tasks but apparently building up my skills takes me off my ordained path?

 

the oracle will give you the money if you answer her question correctly whether you're on the path or not.

Talking about following the path of love... the oracle complained about me, that I won't give beggars any money. But: how am I supposed to give someone money without the option to do so? Like the beggar in Soltown? He is only ranting about how much more money I could give, but I don't get the option to give him any... Is it just me, or is there something amiss? Beside the fact, that I personally won't give folks money that are insulting me right into my face...

 

I can't remember the exact wording they use, but when they ask if you can spare a coin, or words to that effect - just type Yes in chat with them, and they deduct one gold from your cash.

 

So there is a trick to it. First you let the Oracle tell you the answer to the test, then you give that answer back to her to get the 500g.

she will then tell you if she thinks you follow the path or hold it in disdain. The you start with telling her
test
and depending on which path she inquires about you say Yes if she thinks you follow it or No if she thinks you hold it in disdain. What you yourself think or feel is rather irrelevant to her. She hasn't been maintained properly for some decades so might be slightly cranky.

All beggars have the same base key words that they will respond to regardless of their dialog.

This particular beggar only rants about me havinge more money and then the conversion ends... kind of... might be a bug. I'm not sure... other beggars behave as usual and take my money.

 

Welcome to the game! The learning curve is indeed steep and unclear! Do feel free to ask any questions you have. Lot of folks have learned through trial and error or just from being here since the beginning.

 

That would be the one in Soltown, and yes he responds to the ones I listed as well. Just gave him some coins a few moments ago.

Is the quest where you give a certain letter to a certain barmaid apart of the love path? I'm not able to give her the letter. Could this be a bug or am I doing something completely wrong?
