UPDATE: this is just for ADVENTURER SKILLS ... nothing about displaying crafting skills..

Like the title i think that a lot of player want to keep some things... PRIVATE (
PVP disadvantages, reputation... etc etc... anyone can have a valid reason like on real life)

    please vote YES or NO

    thank you

P.S. this referendum is to add a FLAG (on the game options) .. not to remove the skills display at all

Well for crafters for example it's a way to advertise: Hey look! I'm a Grandmaster Tailor and Grandmaster Enchanter!
For non-pvp-oriented fighters it might be a way to simply show off...
For guildmates it might be a way to see which skillsets their fellow mates are focusing on...

So, there are reasons to show your grandmaster skills. But I agree, it should be optional to show them and even which of them you want to show.

    Mmmmhhpppfff.....No.
    Well, i see your point.
What i don't understand is why we always have to deal with extremes in this forum.
    YES/NO.
What about a god damned option to turn it on or off?
Or connect it to titles which can be turned on and off anyway?

I did write, that I prefer an option as well, didn't I? I'd even go so far to have this option for each GM-skill seperately... So a crafter GM can still advertise his crafting-skills but hide his combat-GM-skills for example.

No problem :) I personally dislike that All-or-nothing-mentality myself.

a FLAG is an OPTION (to display these skill if a player want) .

crafting skills can be always displayed.. i think only that on PVP "expose" GM Skills to another player can be a negative thing.

For me, there in no problem for the crafting skill but for combat skill i prefer to hide my grandmaster skill.. It's a surprise during the duel

If it did not display, then how would these forums survive? You need to identify the 1% in order to crucify them.

A simple check box by each GM skill to hide/show, or a pop up menu listing all your GM's to tick on or off would work.

Also, as someone stated above, I would rather be surprised by my opponent in pvp than having to peruse their skill set first. (And yes I know I wouldn't have to look, but curiosity and all that)

Personal opinion, I just would rather be surprised.

All skills (both adventure and crafting) should be optional. However, if someone is in a group and they're providing a learning bonus because they have a GM, it should be visible then.

I don't object to GM status being visible, it effectively stands in for a 'fame' system. If you're one of the most skilled warriors/mages etc in the land, you would expect word to get about and people will know your name - but since we don't actually live in Novia and NPC conversation is pretty limited, we have visual shortcuts representing that effect.

Personally I'd consider expanding it so your displayed GM status becomes more prominent, brighter/larger/whatever as you progress above 100. Maybe even have it appear at a lower level, very faint at first. Having it suddenly appear at 100 and remain constant seems a bit weird.

I haven't voted though because I don't really care all that much :p
