Other than typing /stat and opening a folder to see what a players level is.

This is needed and relevant since it clearly plays a factor in how effective skills and things actually work.

One should not have to exit the game in any way to see it.

At it to paper doll, skill window, . . . anywhere but not hidden in a text file off game.

That would be nice and having our xp pool number would also be very helpful.
I see no reason for us to have to open our giant Skills window in order to see it.

I agree it should be more obvious, but we do have a hint at least. When whe fight mobs in each zone they show as different color levels. So we do have an idea of what level we are. If we are in a level 2 zone and its orange then you probably are in the right place. I know its not exactly what your talking about though. Min/Maxers love all data provided so they do not have to expolore or the dreaded word "immerse" themselves in the world. They just want to level as fast as they can.

    I concur!

Posted last week with similar thoughts and ideas for other stats on the closing screen if nothing else.

I think it should be listed at the bottom of the skills window, opposite the pooled experience.

They removed the stats window which listed your adventurer level along with all the other stats, but I agree with not understanding why they removed it.

They removed it because if @Lord British had his way you'd never see Any numbers.
I have to believe that it's only because of @DarkStarr and (likely mostly) @Chris talking him down that any are available.

Levels are fun for me, I remember playing AD&D trying to accumulate enough XPs so my character would go up a level, it gives one a definite goal to aim for and a sense of accomplishment if you achieve the next level. This game has that same fun for me as I am continually striving to train up many skills. My stats file is checked at the end of each playing session, a very easy thing to do for those of us who know about it but it would be nice to have an option to enable or disable a level display.

I understand @Lord British if he want to create immersion and that we just have to try out and become a sense of what we can do and what not.
We still would have colors which Indicates the strength of a Mob.

I am splitted about it. The course why i check from time to time are the Statements in the forum when we talk about the "strength" to do something.

Aka 80 and you have no more problems in t5 or 90 and you scratch the edge for pvp, 100 and you should be a dreaded Avatar etc...

If it isn't intrusive in terms of code, I'd vote to have SotA HUD integrated just like SotA Map was.

EDIT: And it would be an option choice, requiring the player to check a box in the Game Menu.

The main argument I have seen for not showing much of the content in /stats is that is is immersion breaking.
However is it not much more immersion breaking to have to tab out of game and rummage for a file?
I think we need more information, not less, about our how gear/skill choices are effecting our combat capability and think we should have an advanced stats window. I'd also like to see currently-at-risk xp pool.

Frankly I like the idea of getting rid of all level numbers on all skills and just call them
    Beginner 0-9
    Novice 10-19
    Apprentice 20-29
etc etc with adept journeyman seasoned proficient expert master grandmaster

or something like that. And have some way of indicating progression like that through those levels

Yes, either show them easily to everyone (with an opt out tick box) or hide them from everyone. I wish they would decide if they want us to see it or not.
    Can they be titles? :)

They have decided. It's just that people don't want to accept the answer, so they dig.

So the decision is to let us see it at great inconvenience? If they want to turn it off, they should turn it off. They didn't want us to see virtue, so we don't. That, at least, makes sense.
