NPC dialogue editing tool

    I think it'd be really cool for folks who like to run player driven quests if a tool were available to edit any NPC's Dialogue temporarily for your own Party.

    Party enters a scene, party leader finds the NPC and enters customized dialogue which is displayed for each party member as long as the party leader remains in-scene. Then every party member that enters that scene can talk tot he NPC and receive the dialogue.

    EDIT: it would also be very nice to be able to have the custom dialouge disabled after a player defined number of completions that they have to pay for with in-game-gold. It would then use that gold to reward each completion, and automatically disable to custom dialogue once all completiosn are exhausted.

    here is what I posted in the discord chat about the topic

    when the quest starts the player that started the quest is saved a portion of the reward and the quest can only be started if the total reward is still available.
    that grinding for the end loot would be a pain tho(edited)

    if their was a starting loot fee for a like thirty players that then ran itself after that the grinding to start a quest wouldn't be so painful but then we have the problem of the players getting more than thirty people to do the quest creating absurd amounts of loot

    so the system would have to be nerfed in some way

    logistically the reward system for normal game quests is way to kind to the players so the appeal to going to player-owned towns is not going to be that strong
    so in some way they would have to nerf it so that the quest is not to easy for the rewards given and the quest giver is not completely taping the quest giver
    like making a fee to participate in the quest or some form of compensation of the quest giver so that the quest can continue to be run

    Perhaps the dialogue coudl show who the person running the quest is, that way if the loot ends up being poor making you not wanna do those, you could tell if its gonna be bad by who runs it. That way people could earn natural notoriety with thier quests and itll become possible to tell which ones are gonna pay out.

    Or, if you wanna get game mechanics even more involved, you could set Have it possible to Pay igg for each additional completion it will allow, and when it runs otu of completions (and out of gold rewards), it automatically disables the custom dialogue.

    Its such a shame the custom quest creation feature is hidden behind an exorbitant paywall... Its the kind of unique thing that would have brought in a huge amount of players and good press.

    As far as the OP yeah that's a good idea. Not sure how I feel about it being implemented before launch tho

    There is currently no custom quest feature. There is a free custom quest tool developed by Elgarion that is not integrated with the game which would be far more amazing than the OP if it were integrated @Elgarion

    I'd always thought of having control of POT NPC's for custom quests and never thought of a system for temporarily controlling regular NPC's to show custom content to only your party members. Now that's a really cool idea. From a database standpoint, I'd have to noodle on its feasibility, BUT I bet with a fancy LUA add-on, that could be achieved and wouldn't even have to be limited to your party. Betting we could have a repository of custom quests utilizing a database accessed by an add-on that has in-game triggers based on location, events in your chat window, etc etc etc.
