So with quest lines finished I figured I'd play through them

First, Every other town has a siege around it. This much war has consequences, towns are going to be razed to the ground, gone. Second, there is a new & improved "TRAIN TO ZONE" griefing mechanic of leaving a cabalist at zone in.

Dial down the sieges and put a shorter leash on the cabalists.

shhh.... where else am I going to get all my wood? There are times when it seems like every town is under siege and then there are times when there are no sieges.

So you are the one that fights to farm wood and runs to the zone when the boss spawns leaving !!fun!! for the rest of us.

lol I always kill the Cabalist. I make a bunch of money off their loot so I can buy Ore. Engineers for wood, Cabalist for Ore.

Just by the by, cabalists will naturally run to the town side zone in because that's where the mercenaries spawn. It isn't necessarily someone griefing you.

Are you telling me that having high level boss mobs camp zone lines is BY DESIGN?

Players aren't clearing the sieges fast enough.

I would contribute but the game doesn't want me near the engineers...

If they are not being cleared fast enough slow the spawn rate.

I don't know if I'd call it by design, but their pathing does take them there so you can, in theory, get unlucky I guess.

My experience with sieges is this:
    • Enter town (siege)
    • Loading screen for about a minute
    • Run the easy way around the siege for about a minute
    • Exit siege
    • Loading screen for about a minute
    • Continue what I was actually there to do
Honestly feels like a waste of time. Places like Nightshade Pass/Brightbone Pass/Vertas Pass are similar, but at least you'd usually only have to get through one of those per session. If I have to go through another siege to do whatever's next, I check my watch and see if it's time to stop playing for now. I'll consider using Recall, but I only have a few of those scrolls left before I have to go make more.

That is my usual experience with them as well until you eventually hit "Loading screen -> load into combat with a cabalist -> run across as a ghost -> post feedback"

This was Ardoris, the first big town new players are going to see. The place they are led by soltown quests

Cabalists... Are those the 9k HP things that chased me all over the zone last night when I went passing through a siege?

If you reach the town defenders zone and there are *no* living defenders to speak of, then the cabalists are most likely out in full force and have decimated the defending forces. At which point, the best option is to run like hell unless you're high level enough to take them on ;)
