How does this work? Is this a real PoT or something through Port? Do I have to track down this governor in game? Nothing but cryptic BS in zone chat.

from how I understand it... the dev in-charge will open up lots from time to time...

My guess is that there will be a governor NPC but he/she will be wholly Dev controlled at first. Watching this new feature with keen interest since it *might* eventually extend to PvE zones.

Bloodbay is considered a POT so you do not need a place anywhere deed.
You can see the name of the governor by the name of the zone/compass.
The governor, who is controlled by a dev will place lot stones randomly; that from what I gathered is not claimeable at first, allowing people to find it and then it becomes unlocked some time after that.
I saw a row lot claimed and a village lot, the first two in the zone. The row lot was initially camped and locked, but you could see the stone on the ground. Then the stone became claimable. Same thing happened with the village stone. Was a unclaimable stone and then after some condition it was claimable.

Looked like someone is setting up vendors on the house by the water. Ben? It seems like they’re going to let a lot season for a while and get people fighting over it. It’s going to be tough to snag one with the heavy hitters crusing he area. That’s the way it should be I suppose.

This was in the release notes for R52:

    • Blood Bay Housing: Blood Bay, the PvP island in Spindrift Bay, now has a governor who sometimes makes lots available to players.

This is super cryptic and should really be explained. Is the governor a player or Port dev? What are the details of the "sometimes" - PvP winners... favoritism... random?

    It's me.

    Edit:
    J/K.
    Couldn't resist.
    It was explained in Dev+
I will try to sum up what i remember:
    - The Gov is a Dev Account
    - The Gov will sometimes drop lot markers without further note and make them avaible without further note
    - They plan to do ingame events as well to get lots
    - They plan some kind of ingame quests to get lots
    - They want to automate it at some point, somehow

So the main info is: at the moment lots can drop without further note pretty much any time during Port business hours.

Oh, then it's total favoritism. Haha.

The point about explaining things is a larger issue.

Things could be partially-communicated and half-explained when the game was in early access. Now that the game is "launched", explanations need to be full and clear and to everyone.

I see your issue. I just don't share your point of view.
That's UO style stuff. Random, unexplained, surprising. Adds to the dynamic imo. Can it produce favoritism? Sure. But i don't mind. If i would be the Dev Gov i would absolutley favour PvP Guilds and people above Joe Average, his guild and the Lot resellers *shrugs*. It's a PvP zones. What would those ppl want there anyway?

UO was the wild-west days of MMO's. There are obviously people who would enjoy knowing this who don't (that's the point of this thread), so why not promote it as a way to draw in players? Increase the amount of PvP in Blood Bay - which would make existing PvP'ers happy too. Even if favoritism and random stuff is attractive to some (and I'm not saying that this particular example is...), I still believe clear communication always yields better results in the long run. Just my humble opinion, proved true too many times in life AND in SotA.

    During Port business hours...

    o_O

Just give me the dev account and I'll be happy to run some events for them at night. :D:D

Yep, that's me! I was totally lucky to get the second lot, and have opened it up as an inn with free housing for anyone who wants to live in Blood Bay. Come join us!

As blood bay is now a POT which means it does not exist on single player offline? Right? I will have to check tonight.

Pretty sure it should be like Shardfalls and Ruins; multiplayer only.

I think what he means is... since it is a POT, it's no longer available in Offline Mode (since all POT's were removed from Offline Mode).

That's a shame if this is true though, since Blood Bay contains an Entrance to K'rul, as well as some other cool content in the zone itself.

You can also get to Krul via Shrekk, the easiest way is have a large friends list there are always people in Krul ;)
