Do you log in through Steam or straight through Port?

Both.

Also it used to be that steam downloaded faster but since a year or so the client has been faster in all aspects that I could note.

 

all 11 accounts - port so please add +10 to the port figure as I cba to log into each one to click port.

But you can use the Steam downloaded game and not have to have it installed twice. Simply open your steam game folder usually found here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SotA and open the Shroud of the avatar.exe (I have it as a short cut on my desktop) Then you can login to the game directly with your name/password while the game downloads through steam. Once steam finishes downloading you can use steam to play.

I see no reason to use Steam.

 

I just have 1 account so far, and just use STEAM.

 

Steam i find is more relevent when you play s lot of dif games at once. Thats kinda where it shines.. with instsntly being able to jump in with friends in thousands of dif games.. instsnt voicr chat n bla bls.

I think if people play 90% just Sota, that id agree with ya.

 

Steam and steam only. Even games not on steam, I add them to my library. I like everything being in one place to easily see and manage.

 

I update thru Steam but then I close out Steam and launch the client separately thru windows to play.

Steam, but only because the original method of patching in SotA was such a miserable piece of regurgitated meat... Seeing what I have in this thread, I may give the Port patcher another try, as it won't mean a 2 gb download every time.

 

Still counts as 1, the players are important not the accounts People who play via Steam can only link 1 Account so they have to use both most of the time if they have more Accounts.
Many People have multiple accounts, so the numbers are also distorted and can be used to manipulate polls or surveys. So try to keep it fair

I linked my account early to steam and are now “bound”. Steam patcher was much better in the past.

on one location i have a really slow downloadrate and use local (for smaller updates)
on the other location i use both

 

The advantage to Steam is you get the updates instantly, the downside is they are much larger downloads than the standalone client.

 

I gave up on steam many moons ago, I got tired of listening to the "whining"... and all the negativity there... The Port client is all I use...

 

You can long in with your SotA credentials and play without Steam.

You can download the updates usually the night before a release by using the torrent feed.

 

It's only the largest video game sales platform in the world.
