devs have mentioned its not going to happen since its important to know what the other player is wearing or not wearing in pvp encounters.

various options have been floated but they have more important things to work on imo as we approach the L day.

so maybe after that they will work on a fix for it showing when flagged for pvp but not when in pvp? who knows.

I never understood the PvP thing. WoW was faced with the same excuse regarding PvP and “what the opponent was wearing” before they added transformation, but even they still had the Hide Helm option. If judging an opponent based on what they were wearing you’re either trying to ambush them or you deserved to take the first hit IMO. PvP shouldn’t be paced so slowly that the opponents clothing is a factor, especially in a game that doesn’t use a class system.

One possible solution is to use the alternate deck system. First, you set your current equipment to your current deck. Then, make another deck the same, but with the helmet off, and set it to "Alternate"

Then all you have to do is press "X" to switch to that alternate deck when you aren't needing the helmet.

Honestly with the addition of patterns and such the "knowing what the person is wearing" has become less and less relevant.
Especially when you start seeing people with top hats and byrocket hats and things, I mean, I guess yeah you "know" its leather if you know what all the pattern types are.. just as you may "know" that the hat with the feather in it is a cloth hat, but I don't know how much of an edge this would really give you in combat. Other considerations like the shroud covering most of one's chestpiece can make it very hard to determine if its chain/plate/etc. unless you inspect very closely and some of the patterns are not immediately evident - assassins is leather but looks and flows like cloth and so on.

I don't think this argument is valid anymore as a reason to not have helmet hiding.

If showing it in PvP is the only reason to show it then just...make it show when in PvP mode.

There was a suggestion that if they implemented such a feature it would only be invisible to you, there's probably a to do task for it already but low priority.
