Has anyone tried talking to the guard captain (forget his name, he's in the church, downstairs from the main level). Is there some magic word you need to say to him to get him to confess about the things he has done? I can't remember if this step must be completed before going through the final mirror, or after...

It’s after you go through the large mirror.

Just an FYI for those of you who think you need this to finish the main quests toward the Shroud. You don't. It's all side quests here. The proper Courage quests start in Resolute.

Thanks, Elwyn... I'm weird though (#shockamazementdisbelief, "No, Rufus! Not YOU!") I can't let it remain undone and move on...
    Completely my issue.

I finally made a single player character, and also can’t finish this quest. But I can continue the quests for the Shroud, so it’s all good.

I don't remember very well, but only finishing all the quests is that you get the FormalCourageSalute, right?

I've done pretty much all the quests again these last few times and only this one has this problem.

Unfortunately, it is one that will reach exactly the new players. :(

I think you get the Banner of Courage from completing all (most?) of the quests in this area. Hang it up on your wall! Collect the whole set!

This is false information. I'm guessing you did this quest such a long time ago that you forgot the real steps, because you never give her the echo essence, she gives it to you, it's a non-transferrable quest item that she gives to you, after you give her the skulls and the hex essence, two different essences you're confusing, the quest is broken, still unfixed. I stopped playing the game due to this quest being broken. Some say it's just a side quest, doesn't look like a side quest to me, looks like a main quest, either way, side quest or not, the entire adventuring area is dedicated to the quest, and it is fun, until you can't enter the large mirror.

Has anyone tracked down when this quest was broken? I can say that this quest was working during release 52 in online (when I played through my first time), and that it was broken in release 55 in offline mode (when I started messing around in offline mode). It's a pretty narrow window (3 releases), hopefully that helps the devs track it down.

This is the first major quest line I have attempted as a new player, and it is broken. Not such a good look at this game, honestly.

This was my main concern with having a broken quest line in a starter area... Presumably 1/3rd of new players are likely to encounter this problem within hours of starting the game.
