Dallas Area Eclipse Party (8th) and trek to the Scarborough Renaissance Festival (7th)!

    As most everyone already knows, there will be a full solar eclipse passing over the United States on April 8th. Dallas and the surrounding area is in the path where the full effects of totality can be observed.

    Local to North Texas? Plan to be in North Texas for the eclipse?

    I will be hosting a player (and friends) get-together for the event to be held at Towne Lake Park in McKinney, TX 75069, starting at about 11:30 AM. The Eclipse will peak to full totality at 1:43pm and the Solar event will be over at 3:03 PM.

    The Park has pavilions, a Lake with kayaks for rent, baseball fields, more fields, trails, disc golf, and bocce ball! (I plan to bring a volleyball net/ball)

    Contests and prizes are pretty much assured ;)

    This will be a potluck type of event, so folks who sign up should also indicate what food items they plan to bring. We will be cooking on site, there are hibachi grills on site, and I plan to bring additional grilling equipment. (anyone with portable Grills should advise if they will be able to bring theirs too)

    • Portions of the event may be streamed

    • Please note that this is NOT an official Catnip Event, this is a player get together! Though SotA swag will be handed out (while supplies last).

    • Be sure to have Eclipse approved eyewear! Glasses and other protection can be sourced on Amazon or other places.
    This is a once in a lifetime event! Spend it with friends!

    Myself and my better half will be there, will talk with our cousin Eddie and his wife if they want to join us.

    Items we can bring : anything needed.
    Food dish : Have yet to decide what I want to make. :)

    Edit - Sunday 7th Faire - Chatull and I will go. Have yet to talk with our cousins, Eddie and Nancy, if they would like to go too. Will update if they do go.

    :p *shock and awe ensues* :p

    I will have plant based hot dogs with normal buns and condiments, if anyone wants some I will not even come close to eating the whole package! I can spring for some typical carnivore hot dogs too even.
    I will probably also bring some typical store bought sides if nobody else will be committing to what they are bringing.
    And some iced tea and flavored sparkling waters.

    I will RSVP for at a minimum the Eclipse event.

    Lord Elryin Silvertree will be in attendance!

    Lady Silvertree will also be in attendance and she said she will be making "Fluff". (it is a desert item made with whipped cream...)

    p.s. - though she said she will make it, there is a chance it doesn't make it to the event if she lets me get my hands on it... lol j/k

    Actually as a volunteer amateur radio operator I will be working with my local EOC (Emergency Operations Center) supporting communications for North East Tarrant County. We expect mayhem and chaos, and hope for calm and peace.

    Irishize and I will be at the Eclipse Party. We will probably pick up a pie since we are driving up from Houston. We will not be making Scarborough since I have family to visit.

    Lady Silvertree requests your feedback.

    The lady upon hearing of my plan to feast on the fluff, has by Royal Decree barred me from consuming any fluff prior to the eclipse event, and she has gone a step further...

    She will now make double the fluff just to antagonize me...

    A chocolate fluff she said will be the first, but what flavor should be the second?

    I told her that I love all of the flavors so it did not matter which, but for your feedback she insisted.

    What flavors are your favorites? Does anyone have any allergies that we should consider while making the fluff?

    Thank you in advance for your feedback. We will bring forth all of the fluffy deliciousness and cannot wait to see you all!

    Really want to join the eclipse party, but Spellfire and I both have to work. :( We will go outside for the viewing though. And not able to go to Scarborough this Sunday. We do plan to go this season!

    Event Part One: We will be meeting at The Scarborough Ren Fair at 9:30am on Sunday the 7th and are planning on staying as long as we can (they close at 7pm). Anyone planning to be at the Festival can show up and leave at any time, we will use the SotA Events Discord (text) channel to coordinate.     Event Part Two: We will be meeting at my house in McKinney, TX at 11:00am on Monday the 8th and will be hanging out in my yard and at the park across the street throughout the event (as noted in the OP). We will be grilling Hamburgers, Hotdogs, Ribs, etc. in addition to anything y'all bring :D **I will PM everyone with my address**
