Game was working fine until this most recent update on 6/11/20. Now I get lag again every 15 minutes or so and have to restart.

Yes, hitching is a specific type of lag where the game hangs for a short period of time repeatedly.

It's a more pronounced version of stutter.

Noticable Pauses between 250ms-800ms are called stutter, while pauses over 800MS are called hitching. Lag is a very generic term on the other hand that can mean anything from hitching, to stuttering, to input latency, to desyncing and any other number of issues.

In Unity based games hitching is most commonly due to the GC routine in the memory manager being overloaded. There are patches in newer Unity versions to mitigate (but not solve) the problem hopefully they both will be enough.

I'm hoping that the devs can get on integrating those patches.

The newer Unity version also has a nice profiler that should give them the ability to know what routines are causing the most stress on heap usage.

I generally can play two hours before I start getting the hitches, but when it hits it hits hard.
