3D overworld map in the live video now

Chris was talking about making a new scene in an hour.. he wasn't refereeing to the overland map.

 

Scale. The puzzle pieces also make it look smaller than it will be. As it is, the continent is going to be 2x as large as initially planned thanks to the Kickstarter stretch goal.

The problem is that i think that can be a little bit "spoiler" if you dont want to know nothing about the book. But they spoke a lot about the game background.

 

Cool! I can't wait to see how the map evolves.

 

Yeah, I am going to just say that until we have movement, functionality and responsiveness we are still pretty much where we were. It looks nice but if the fight over the map was about being pretty we've been wasting a lot of time.

 

It is small relative to Novia. The Hidden Vale is the size of approximately 1.5 grid squares on the full Novia map.

I hope this 3D map doesn't become a lag fest. The cloth style map had a silky smooth framerate which made it enjoyable to use. Any jerkiness would ruin it for me.

 

Very interesting, VERY EARLY, look at the framework only of the 2nd scale world. They sound pretty excited by this new direction.

I've been reading the book so there were no spoilers for me but its really neat to see how they are recreating a handful of Ultima's worth of history up front. At one point Tracy said, of a location I wont mention, "in the game...an amazing place to visit" so I'm thinking they've internally been wandering portions of the mainlaind.

 

How a about a Pen of the Avatar that centers on the map and how Stephen is filling it up with all the details like forests, cities etc?

 

I very much like what I've seen of the new 3d map in the latest video and can't wait to get more infos and details on it. Definitely the right direction now.

 

Well, of course this isn't the end all people wanted with the 3d map...but it degfinately looks good...obviously I want to see more functionality as well.

 

I believe that during the one hour map will be made during input from us during that hour and that during R6 will be a way to teleport and look around.
Will shows us the power of the tools they have and by good input from us we will challenge the tools

 

It has far less stuff than the inside of any hex so frame rate shouldn't be an issue

Oh, I thought the map they had shown was Novia. I guess I wasn't paying attention!
The 3D map idea may actually look good. I found the navigation with the cloth map and cardboard stand-ins somewhat wonky where
I wouldn't always be able to travel to where I wanted to go or else the path finding logic would decide where to put me.

Every release of this game excites me to try out and the men and women involved I think are doing a great job at it. Iv'e
been a gamer for over 30 years being older than Lord B himself. Having a community driven game is new and has great potential in my view.

This group of people for Shroud are open minded and willing to take suggestions to try out. I can't wait to see where this game goes!

The 3D map is a prototype, a concept, and it might work. I trust them in getting it right.

I am VERY excited to see where this goes. I think this has tremendously more potential than the cloth or paper map style OLM. I already feel better about where it is headed, but as someone else already mentioned earlier, the functionality and depth of what we do and see in the OLM is quite important... not just it being pretty.

Thanks to the team for showing us this! Very exciting possibilities!

 

Not much on the world map bit. Chris is figuring out the tech and Stephen is just going to make it look pretty. Soon they'll have a version to show with all the details in but that picture basically shows where they were at.

 

Lets hope we will see some of it in R6
