I love the stretch goals, my only concern is that the cost of the boat stretch goal makes it very unlikely it will be met.

Long boats and row boats cost $10 which is half that of a horse and half that of an outfit? To make matters worse the boat stretch goal is set at 500k which would require 50,000 people to buy a boat (more than the number of account holders once multiple accounts are removed).

I don't want a house decoration but I really do want a functioning boat, I would rather see the small boats sold for $60 and a promise that we would get refunded if the stretch is not met. That would equate to 8,400 boats sold to meet the target which is much more achievable. It also makes more sense on a relative value basis compared to the costs of plots and horses since boats offer a method of transport, fishing options, treasure hunting etc. By pushing the price down to $10 everyone loses because the target won’t be met and then no-one will have a chance to own a functioning boat...

It is my sincere hope they offer other ways of allocating funds to stretch goals.

The stretch goals currently have no time limit, so eventually they will be met. At their current pace, sometime around 2017, which might be around Episode 2 or 3. :)

Give it time...more backers = more potential add-on store / stretch goal pledges. Plus, more marketing, more promotion, more enticement all in good time.

Yes, that would be my thoughts.

Any stretch goals still around by the public release of Episode should start getting an additional boost from new blood purchasing the game for the first time.

I'm quite certain the devs are in no rush to fulfill those goals, and personally I see no need to rush them either. :)

Arter visiting the player housing islands in R7 (Port Mirren etc.), I really would like to sail around the archipelago exploring and maybe treasure hunting, watching the sun setting and rising. Guess it will be a while before we get to do that

While I love boats, I don't want to buy one. The fun was in capturing the pirate ship.

speaking of Pirate ships, imagine what those Baron Ships will look like out on the open sea. It isn't a matter of if, it's a matter of when. They will indeed have ships in this game, and those Baron vessels will be badass!

Would love a boat, just for fishing.
500k? Not going to happen. Stretch goal pricing is surreal.

I think we would have these things by episode 2 or 3 without stretch goals. 2017?, I bet those that are contributing to them now are not hoping these goals are met by 2017, (More like episode 1). Not a big fan of stretch goals. I would be highly surprised if any of these monetary stretch goals are met. Hope I'm wrong.

They are all overpriced. If you invest once in each goal, goals that were always implied beforehand, you would have paid an above average and complete price of a PC game... I don't see any of these appealing to anyone but the most absolute hardcore fans. The same people who are already spending several hundreds of dollars.

yeah, all the stretch goals are out there. Especially since they don't count to your pledge either

IF they counted toward our pledge, then I bet these things would sell a hell of a lot more.

Likewise. It feels bad to have a higher pledge, and thus no wish to spend more, knowing that it did nothing to get us boats and horses...

Lords and up house pledges come with boats according to charts on SotAwiki. Correct me if I am wrong.

They can choose to live on some kind of house boat, which won't even sail until this stretch goal is met. It's just a house looking like a boat atm.

Okay... Correct me if I'm wrong again, but when the final stage is released, the Sotawiki charts make it sound like I'll get the Duke's Benefactor house on a city sized coastal lot that comes with all that extra stuff including a ship of some sort. Am I misreading that somehow.

If you pledged to Duke you have the ability to claim:

A)LOT : Estate Lot (Double-City lot) or lower.
B)House: You get the Benefactor Duke House if you are a Benefactor. You get the Founder version if you are a Founder, as well as a Founder version that can go in the water. You get everything for the tiers below.

The ships are part of the Lord & Baron pledges, Founder only. If you are a Founder Duke then you do get these, and if you had a water lot you could use them as your home instead of the Duke Castle. If the boat goal is reached then you could supposedly use them to sail.

If you are a Benefactor you do not start with any boats/ships.
