OK, this probably doesn't fit into the context of the game at all - but I'm a HUGE Texas Hold em fan. I've seen in some of the UO emulators they have poker tables you can sit down at and play texas hold em. Would love to be able to play in poker tournaments for actual Sota currency. Perhaps you can build a poker table for your house and when you sit down at the table you have the option to play poker locally or connect to multi-table tournaments and such?
Orange Dragon: "You know, these Outlanders are a lot tastier than Novians!" Blue Dragon: "Agreed. They have a lot more tender meat on their bones." Green Dragon: "I wonder why?" Red Dragon: " Must be due to all that extra gold they spend drowning themselves in beer at the Bear Tavern!" Orange Dragon: "This next round is on me! I was fortunate enough to come upon a wealthy Duke and his trade caravan today on the road to Vengeance and relieved them of their gold..." All the dragons laugh and resume playing Hold 'Em poker
It's a complicated script. But as this and seemingly every thread is a duplicate from the past I'll dupe my answer to this the last time I heard it... One of Portalarium's oldest games is a Texas hold 'em Facebook game, I played it. So they do own a script, converting it into the game is a different story.
Texas Hold 'Em is my fav card game. Would really be worth implementing Port's Texas Hold 'Em into SotA. They said back in the day, the entire purpose for their Facebook games was to build and learn how to manage the transferring of mechanics between users (For SotA). Official Poker tables in select few pubs would really draw a crowd.
I think its a good idea, but it shouldnt be able to play "multiplayer" without the players in there, like, if you want to play with some people, invite them to your house, or meet at a tavern, or something.
I've been asking for mini-games for some time, but I get that this is low on the totem-pole. That's why I suggested a scene jam where coders can submit their own mini-games of: Poker, Poker Dice, Liar's Dice, Go, Backgammon, Nine Men's Morris, etc.
I have a design concept for cards in the game, which might allow their use in multiple different games. I'll have to piece it together coherently and post it, and see if we can't get a couple folks who are better at coding to take a whack at it.
We sure need more games besides chess. Backgammon, checks, deck of cards.... Dice... Need all those from the old days. Makes for great player run casinos.
