The igg price on both maple and pine wood on public vendors has dropped a lot recently. I also see a lot more wood in circulation on player vendors, also at much lower prices than just a month or two ago.

    What gives?

Is it the sieges? Is it the 'outskirts'? Or am I missing something?

I have about 30k of wood (15k pine / 15k maple) just sitting in my chests.

They need to fix ranged crafting for me to part with it or use it.

I'd say it's this. Killing Siege Engineers is a far more efficient way of gathering wood than chopping down trees.

Defiantly Sieges. I've gained more wood from sieges than I ever did cutting down trees.

When PvE is better at crafting than crafting is, you've royally screwed something up...

Yes my thought is because of sieges we are getting more from engineers dropping a good amount. I don't of course think it should be nerfed. We never got much wood off trees anyway.

Seiges. I have 1500 of each sitting in my chests to.

What has actually happened is that people selling wood are still trying to get the same price for it after sieges went in and supply has skyrocketed. They have not payed attention to demand. I used to buy wood all the time, now I can get it easy any time I want whenever I want it. Wood is probably 5x over priced on peoples vendors.

But like Majoria said, wood was impossible to collect before and now its perfect. I just wish they did something like this for ore, give us different ways to get it other then grinding a mine.

I've been noticing a LOT more ore as I'm running around. Road Encounters are great places for resources. Both wood and ore. Going through some of the quest area's also have provided more ore than I have seen in the past. So good stuff going on. :D

Thank you, so there we have it in black and white. They doubled the supply while the demand is either the same or even slightly less. Which means prices is still a little bit high and should continue downwards a bit.

I love that the engineers give me wood (hah), and I am really hoping that if it is reduced, they still at least give a few logs here and there. It was so refreshing to see that we were getting more than 15 gp, a rusty axe, and a very very very small chance for COTO, potion, recipe, etc. This was a very welcome change.

I think in general, the demand for wood has dropped some lately. If you think about it, about a year ago, we just had final wipe and the era of persistence. That's when most people placed their houses and began their journey of collecting resources to craft things to decorate it.

I'm thinking after the first 4-5 months, most people had their homes complete, or nearly complete with all the basics anyway. Especially a few months after the sieges were introduced and we were finally able to get a decent amount to make our furniture.

Sure, there are newer players that are still doing deco and others who are finally getting around to it... but I think the bulk of the population already went through that phase and now carpentry is in a lower demand state.

Wood should have never gone above 15g in my opinion. I will never ever pay more than that.

    Siege engineers drop wood?
Ha, I can barely take on the bandits near the middle of the siege, let alone the engineers.
Chopping all I can get, hoping to find someone not using theirs - want to be that furniture GM builder.

Then what use would the Forestry skill tree serve, if chopping trees isn't worth the effort ?

You still need forestry for getting the sooty bark type things. You just don't need to sit in a god-forsaken forest for hours to try to make a stool now.
