Specialty crown merchants

Haven't been in the game, but as I understand, all of the add-on items have been dumped on existing Crown Merchants. Is this true ?

It would be nice imo to have specialty crown merchants...
Ie.

/ Arborist - Sells trees and bushes. In Central Brittany by the gardens.

/ Antiquary (antiquities dealer) - Sells statues and sculptures. In Etceter by the docks where you have antiques shipped from Xenos.

/ Lampier (lamps dealer) - Sells lamps and lanterns. In Ardoris, city of lights.

/ Furnisher (furniture dealer) - Sells furniture. In Owl's Head or at Kingsport docks.

/ Beast-master or beast-keeper (pet seller) - Sells pets. In Xenos.
etc.

/ Music-seller - Sells musical instruments, amplifiers, wax cylinders. In Aerie, city of bards.

/ Horologist - Sells clocks and moondials. By the Central Brtianny moondial or wherever the devs plan to add an observatory in game.

/ Master Thespian - Sells emotes, masks, wings, costumes. By the open theater in Central Brittany.

They could be indentified by wearing a crown on their vest, even in different dress and appearances.

 

It's a good idea. They are getting QUITE long winded at this point.

 

actually darkstarr mentioned the current ones (spooky, obsidian, shogun, water...) going away in the telethon.

It would be nice to have a hover over tooltip to some pics or a wiki page for what you're buying as well (was easier with everything being in the official shop) rather than just the name of the item especially with the lists getting longer and longer.

 

I added a few more ideas to the OP.

I'm noting the updates because I think good professions and locations for those professions are what makes the idea work....

The locations make them sensible to find.

For example, two among the ones I just added are a music-seller and horologist. The music-seller would be in Aerie because of the association of the city with bards, and the horologist would be wherever there is an observatory with a moondial.

 

emotes could be in central brit where they have the not-yet-open theater by the castle. the astronomy stuff, though, i think should be somewhere without a lot of light pollution. desolis?

 

Are these items bought from COTO merchants still stealable?

Well I was thinking the person who sells clocks should also sell moondials.. But I forgot about telescopes. I mentioned if there are plans to put a full observatory in game (Bobservatory?), it should be there.

Good idea about tying emotes to the theatre.

I added Master Thespian to the list

 

To whatever extent they need to distinguish them from other NPCs, they could have "Crown" in their title.. ie Crown Arborist vs. Arborist... Crown Thespian vs. Master Thespian... etc.

Just realized... The Master Thespian can sell all the masks, costumes, wings, etc. too. (Alternatively, you could in addition have a "Costumer".)

 

Just curious as I haven't played in awhile, but are there any COTO emote vendors?
