First off, I LOVED and I mean LOVED this scene. It had everything an adventurer could want in it. It had mines, it had sewers, a haunted town, cemetery and of course Obsidian ruins. Which, btw, I still haven't fully explored because I am determined to figure out how to open that damn door with the statues, first! Sadly, I cannot for the life of me, figure out how it opens. At first I simply rotated all the altar statutes to match the door statues. Well that didn't work. Then I thought maybe you need to extinguish the proper candle at the altar statues to match the empty pedestals in front of the door statues. THAT DIDN'T WORK, lol! Finally, I had to go to bed, but I was hoping some of my fellow adventurers might be able to give some guidance. Maybe my dear friend @discipleofweb P.S. @Lexie In the Obsidian Fortress Ruins the side of the steps are still magenta. I know this has been bug reported before, but just FYI.
is there not any clues in the scene, or are you hoping to stumble across it from trial / error I T Y S over and over with quest chains, just more proof to my previous posts about convolution, lack of self correcting, loops . . . . . . . I am off o take a look if I figure it out ill give you a clue.
this is indeed a nice scene. I have not found the No 2 statue as of yet. I found all the others but not that one.
Come on Alley, I'm not THAT obtuse! I already did that. It still didn't open. The vases are different, does that matter? It's all the way around the corner from the abandoned windmill.
not just the ones out in the scene, the ones in front of the door. don't assume that the first statue on the left in front of the door matches with number one out in the world.
I didn't. I counted the pedestals (4 pedesatal = 4 candles). I know they aren't in order. Then I noted which pedestals were missing vases. I then went back and extinguished the candle that matched the missing vase. Is this wrong?
That's weird. I did that and it didn't open. I even went back and checked each one. Ah well, I'll try again later. Thanks Alley!
Basically it's just trial and error. I knew after stumbling upon the "altar/candle statues" that there was going to be a door somewhere but it was not clear until I was in the ruins. It would have been great, if there was a book or parchment in one of the abandoned houses that gave some lore and a hint about what was going on. That would have been helpful.
ah, not vases, the pillars they're on whether a vase is missing or not. faulty memory. still works. and it's raining in there.
Thanks Alley, I must have turned the statues incorrectly then. So just to recap: the number of pedestals correlates to the number of candles (ignore the vases) 1 pedestal statue = 1 candle statue, etc. Correct?
believe so. none of the pedestals out in the world were missing candles that i recall, so it's pedestals to pedestals regardless
You are correct, they all match. The vases threw me off. I thought that if a pedestal was missing a vase it meant you needed to extinguish the corresponding candle. On top of having the statue face the proper direction!
I have not tried this puzzle yet, so here is Rinaldi's solution if needed - https://www.shroudoftheavatar.com/f...asure-hunts-spoilers.61625/page-2#post-886496
Necrothreading here. I tried this today and could not get the door to open. I set the statues in place, door didn't open or was clickable. I went back around and verified all were in the correct orientation. Still no joy. I went back around to set the candles on and off. Still no joy. Are they supposed to be set in a specific order-- i.e. first to last, left to right as you view them at the door? Because I set them as I came across them in the scene. In the end, whatever is behind the door probably isn't worth the aggravation anyway.
