This has been one of my biggest irks about the game, especially in dense foliage scenes. Most games make the overhanging foliage or blockage transparent. SotA not so much. Can we expect this in the future? I hate trying to readjust the camera and only seeing the foliage from the trees etc and not what I'm fighting when zoomed all the way out.

Yes, I gave this feedback also repeatedly. I have to zoom out as much as possible as I get motion sick in first person or above the shoulder views.
A circle of transparency certainly would help.

I agree 100%. Last night I fought a friend that I used to be able to defeat. Not this time, as we fought in different terrain. The foliage of trees made it very hard for me to target. I would probably have had no problem in first person view, but I like the Baldur's Gate-like zoomed-out diagonally-from-above view for most situations. If there is no intention to make foliage transparent, is there a way to quickly change views depending on situation?

I think there's a key that toggles first person.

We don't want first person mode, we want to see what's around us, relative to us. First person mode has even less field of view.

Another thing that bugs me is that I'll zoom way out, then eventually something keeps clipping the camera distance closer bit by bit until it's back to claustrophobic again.

Is setting the foliage to transparency the Devs had said they will not do, or is this on the “to do” list?

I suggested during a telethon about being able to set a fixed camera distance but DS mentioned that would make the camera clip through walls - but this was the intention of what I was getting at.

I think people are probably noticing this more now, trying to get a cowbell in Ulfheim or Savrenoc and constantly having to mouse wheel down while fighting under the trees .

Maybe @Chris might be able to point someone on the team to working on this? The transparency is a good idea.

Yeah the issue is incredibly noticeable in Ulfheim due to the heavy tree cover. Recently been trying out Legends of Aria and noticed the difference right away since it has transparency for objects blocking the camera.

I don't chime in often on this stuff, but so much yes to this... I found the recent Legend of Zelda handled this (and most camera movements) very very well. SotA could use some love in this respect too.

Yeah this is a major battle in my War Against the UI.

A disturbing amount of my gametime is spent fighting (i.e. wasting my time) with the UI. This and the random, inconsistent mouse-look mode changes. Please give us a simple checkbox of "Do not, ever, change the mouse-look mode unless the player explicitly presses the key to do it. Period."
