Pet/NPC placement on property

I have a problem placing pets or npc on my town lot. Conversationalists, and pets will not place within the lot, but always appear at the closest lot boundary. I don't know if I should report as a bug until I exhaust all searches for an explanation. It would not be the first time I was ignorant of some mechanic.

Placement starts with being in deco mode, checking to see if I am under my npc placement quota and then clicking the pet into position with the blue placement square. When I let up on the mouse button the blue square disappears and several moment later the pet appears at the boarder.

So what am I doing wrong, or is this a bug? BTW, vendors place properly.

 

it IS a bug, but it may be a hard one to track down. some piece of deco on your property (or even a nearby one!) is glitching them out. vendors are incapable of moving, so their movement cannot be interfered with.

the most common deco already known to do this is the compendium teleporter.

 

Will experiment with all npc's....

 

not npc's, the furniture.

 

I wonder if the pet or conversationist is actually where you put them. But appearing at the lot edge.

I wonder if you place them. then leave the scene for 5min. Then come back. Will they be in the correct location. (Note: wouldn't be surprised if they were in the right spot then move to that edge spot after you step on the lot.)

There is a bug right now that has them following you even off lot.

 

@Mal Hari i did that.. went to Skrekk for a bit and came back and they were in the correct spots... they havnt went to the edges again yet.. (i log in for a bit daily)

 

Update after reading https://www.shroudoftheavatar.com/f...s-are-broken-by-compendium-teleporter.161590/. I had a compendium teleporter at the back of my town lot. It had destroyed pet placement on the whole lot. Lifted compendium teleporter and everything functions normally. @Sannio
