Disappearing Pet

Has anyone else had a problem with their pets disappearing in their houses? I back the game and got a great dane and put it in my house. I can't find it. When I check my deco it shows it's in the house but I can't see it. I was hoping someone knows how to fix this.

 

Someone will answer this better than I, but here's my opinion on it...

Some things get lost in walls and sometimes they fall through the floors or fall the our world's surface, becoming trapped there.

Those are the ways I know of such things happening. Place it in a bug report or PM to one of our very busy developers, but the easy way is to pick up the property replacing the house and basement or unclaim the property and it all goes into your bank. You may try magic moving it (saving the decor), but I think that may just keep the pet in the same location it's lost in, "I truly don't know". Most of what I'm accounting here is speculation and my personal experiences in our game.

As for as the RP of it, "I think you must have a 4th dimentional pet that sometimes pops in and out of of our world".

That's a fairly 'nuclear' option, I don't know how to fix the pets repeatedly wandering into and through walls and getting stuck, but if you can see it in the decoration palette, you should be able to drag it from there into your inventory rather than rebuild the whole property.

 

This works.

 

He may be in your neighbor's house begging for treats- I have seen pets/conversationalists wander completely off the lot they are placed on. I agree with the above comments that say to pull him out of the deco palette and re-place him, maybe a bit farther from the edge of the lot.

Has my dementia moved into the late stage? Does the key word "disappear", mean something different now?

or wait a very possibly long time for a developer to have the time to find it for you. our developers are all very nice and helpful people, yet also a very busy people.

"decoration pallet", this is unknown magic to me which so much else also is to me these days...

 

It's a really helpful tool, you can find it in the window selector menu at the top right, it lists all the decorations of the current lot your avatar is on.

Certainly pets like to walk even outside the confines of their homes.
I put two zombies in a small graveyard next to my house (two different plots) and when I go back home I often see one of them walk up the stairs and into the bedroom.
In another of my plots I have two ducks and a goose and I always have to get one of the ducks from the decoration palette, because it is always hidden somewhere where I can't see it.
