Personally I think people should be able to choose whatever armor style they want, realistic or not.

However it's really cool to see how 15th century knights actually looked like from contemporary sources- the amazing Bruges Garter Book which details the founding of the Order of the Garter by Edward III is a prime example:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruges_Garter_Book

It has some amazing pictures of what real plate mail looked like - they very often had cloth over the front of it which you almost never see in the types of pictures in these threads for example.

Also people were fond of hats that today we would definitely consider bizarre.

It's a bit amazing to think these men - who had to actually cut down each other one on one with swords - far more difficult that just gunning people down like today - had no problems with the most outlandish headgear :)

As impressive as they are, I can't imagine running, jumping, swimming (or looking at some of those, even moving) in some of those heavy plate armors. So as much as I would like to see armor to be realistic and practical, I hope there is some suspension of realism for the sake of gameplay.

On the subject of non-practical armor, if anyone ever played the Penultima series of modules in the Bioware Neverwinter Nights game, there was a character called Grandma Skullsplitter (a retired barbarian) who would go into battle wearing skimpy fantasy style armor, with the result being that the enemy warriors were so busy gawping at this scantily clad maiden that they would never notice the hulking great axe cleaving their head in two.

The armour was not heavy because the wearer was fit during childhood to wear it every day of his or her life. It was light for them . Today I could not see anyone wear it all day because this time everyone is out of shape. People who wore armour were fit not lazy

I am a woman also, but prefer the fantasy of the game verses realistic for armor. It's fun for me.

I want to like my character and her looks, which at this point of course I do not.

I just don't get it, I am playing for fun, if I wanted to go fight for real that would be one thing lol.

So Here is a repeat picture. Maybe there should be something for everyone.:D
