I am a big fan of Asus. I have gotten both my kids one that runs about $300-400 new at wholesale clubs. They are rough with them and they keep on ticking. Even with bent cases and all. :)

The also run any game thrown at them. Not always on full settings but more than acceptable.

I see your list is mostly for refurbished items. If you have a BJs or Costco I would try there first, or at least see if you can price out a new one. I have just had mixed results with refurbished, and I am not sure they get cheap enough to risk it.

I would focus on the following features:

    1) 8 to 16 gigabytes RAM. Less than 8 gig RAM and things will run slow.
    2) Discrete graphics card
    3) SSD if possible
    4) Largest screen possible for gaming if weight isn't an issue.

I would likely pick this model based upon the limited information provided.

If you are near a Microcenter you can obtain some great prices as well. I've bought a few refurbished laptops and never had an issue.

    Something similar to Greyfox's suggestion.

Anything under a HD3000 will not really run the game, and an HD3000 doesn't really run it *well*, so keep that in mind.

I have a newer Asus laptop and only getting about 8fps max on lowest settings, what do you guys think? I heard that they will be optimizing soon though, so hope that helps:

    • 6GB Memory 1TB HDD
    • AMD Radeon R5 Series
    • Windows 8.1 64-Bit

built in gpu, rather bad cpu , im not sure what the aimed "minimum requirements" are, but i dont think onboards gpu's will be supported

i use a similar laptop for working, but for programming i need the low power usage over a gpu =D

I was looking at laptops to help him out and I couldn't find a new one for less than $500 that I'd recommend for gaming sadly.

You might be able to get away with a budget gaming desktop that would fit the bill.

On board GPU generally means a GPU built into the motherboard or CPU. It usually doesn't have its own texture memory and is underpowered. It isn't designed for gaming.

Dedicated GPU means there is a powerful GPU designed for gaming with its own texture memory.

I got that part but how do I tell in the description if its a dedicated GPU or integrated? It listed mine as a AMD R5 series and did'nt say integrated like I notice on others....I assume AMD Radeon HD 8210 graphics is a dedicated card?
