Dueling should not actually kill you. Maybe just put the loser down. Then a message of some kind that says if you have won or lost the duel. The time it takes to respawn and wait out the death penalty is frustrating when dueling with friends for fun.
Dueling is meant to cover role-play situations where two players might duel to the death also. But you're right its a problem when this isn't what you want... I suggested two dueling modes.. https://www.shroudoftheavatar.com/f...s-friendly-competitive-vs-to-the-death.21360/
Uh if you are dueling with friend and don't what to worry about death then why don't you just stop killing eahother and end the duel when someone hit 10 HP left?
I think that at the very least a duel should be able to be conceded. Some of us really dont want to kill each other for the sake of a duel. We can always tell when we have won a fight, sometimes there is no need to kill other than that the feature isn't there to concede the fight. I do believe that a player that loses a duel should also be at risk to lose an item in the ransom mode as well.
Fight near one of those resurrection ankhs Or bring someone with resurrection spell. Though it would be nice to be able to fight not to death.
There should just be a gump at the time of a duel challenge for the challenger to set options such as "to the death". the other player will see the rule-set and can either agree or decline. Duels and arena combat should have additional options to customise the type of battle. This will be especially significant if death has a greater impact than it currently has.
Because it's extremely easy to come back from 10hp. A couple death touches could put u back at 150hp.
Swamp you know you can't make threads about PvP without getting flamed by non PvPers that troll the PvP threads, just to try and keep staff from bettering PvP.. "Why not just stop fighting when someone has 10hp left" Lol, if only it was that easy considering there is "ticks" when you use fire damage on players, you can't just magically take them off of the players when you decide they are low enough. A simple menu for "dueling only" to resurrect after death would fix this completely.
100% agree, and I intend to keep pushing this point. Sport dueling, arenas and practicing should not included death. However, I have no objection to death in open world PvP. Great idea, except that magic users might not find it amusing. Fun fact, the samurai legend Miyamoto Musashi defeated many swordsmen using only a bokken (wooden sword) against their katana's (long sword). There were many injuries from using bokken, that Kendo started using shinai (bamboo sword).
