New to SotA, just wanted to say hi

    I am presently downloading and patching and while I wait I'm going through the forums. I was so excited when I saw this last year, but wasn't ready to gamble with a pledge after watching so many other games disappear after all the hype of a kickstarter campaign. I too have fond memories of UO...it being my first MMO and setting the stage for what I look for in a game now...I also met my son's father on Catskills outside the bank where he gifted me a nightmare mount that I couldn't ride or control yet lol. I am looking forward to being here to help with testing and bug catching to make this a game to be proud of...I will be looking forward to meeting you all in game.

    Hey welcome traveller,

    If you need some starter help feel free to write in chat
    /friend Spoon
    Or any other nice people from these forums. That way you can use the F key interface to see if they are online. If so you can right click and Whisper them wherever they are.
    Same thing if you meet someone nice in game right click them or their nameplate and add them as Friend.

    Also there are some excellent vids on YouTube, The Mad Hermit, channel. One for new folks, one for an overview of the land and one for skill/deck building.

    When you start out from Solace Bridge and Soltown head south, not north. There is just wilderness and danger in the north while civilization lies in the southeast.

    Finally up in the right corner of the screen is the Bug Report button. When clicked it takes you to the bug forum, and it also puts the format, location stats and user specs in your clipboard for easy pasting.

    Happy hunting and hope you will find riftside as exciting as the rest of us.

    Hi and welcome Tijana. I'm so happy you found the game. I'm also happy to help if you need and in game I am majoria. I was actually on the Pacific shard when I played Ultima Online. I was always getting my poor horses killed. Luckily I had a generous tamer friend who took me horse hunting quite often for replacement mounts.;)

    Ok, have to give everyone a big thumbs up for how helpful the community is. I am loving the game and I wanted to thank Majoria for all her help up to this point. I am still learning the systems and I always have a sheet of blank paper for bug notation next to me as I play but all in all I am pleasantly suprised at how polished the game seems with it still being in Alpha...I have to say to those responsible keep up the amazing work and I am planning on upgrading my pledge once I get moved and settled.     Greetings person of the forums. The one suggestion that I have for you is don't get lost. The game is quite fun, but if you arn't used to not having a map it can be daunting to lose yourself and spend more time then you would prefer roaming around the world map trying to find where the starting cities are. Take the game slow, and enjoy it bit by bit. Rushing won't get you anywhere quickly here, unless you have it all planned out.
