Why do you have to kill skeletons twice? If I kill one it gets back up again after a second. Is this working as intended? Am I missing something, is there a way to keep it from reviving? They tend to bring friends, hard enough to take them down once.

I believe it was a test for the Phoenix summon in the Sun skill tree. The phoenix will die and come back to life. I think they were testing the metrics of it with the undead coming back to life. Hope this helps. :)

Intended. They are magical creatures, so magic kills them properly, and they should stay down.
Physical weapons, you have to kill them a couple of times to keep them down.

Thanks for the replies. Will magical effects on weapons kill them in one round? Guess that would at least be something to look forward to.

At the moment, you have to kill them twice, regardless of what you use to kill them.

On a positive note, every time you down them, you receive the full XP for the kill.

Sounds like a bug then after al. Thought at first they might be like trolls or that blunt weapons might make a difference.

It's not a bug. Well, the double XP is a bug, but the double killing is not.

It was in the R16 release notes, not a bug and will remain in the game.
    • Undead Resurrection Behavior: Undead creatures will now appear to die, only to rise again (they are undead after all). For now they will do this at all times, but in further releases this behavior will be slightly randomized and will mostly only be triggered when Undead are killed by physical means (i.e. magic will usually destroy them the first time). We will also use this behavior as the basis for the Phoenix behavior (we hope to get the Phoenix in R17). This behavior we affectionately call the “I’m getting better!” behavior.

Personally, I would not consider the double XP a bug either.

Strictly speaking, one is doing twice the work to kill the same monster twice, I should receive twice the experience. :)

Interesting, I hope magic weapons will count as magic kills so you only have to do it once. Double xp is nice but I can barely survive killing one twice, and only if I can get just one at a time. Too bad you don't get when monsters kill other monsters, noticed that skeletons and wolves don't get along so well :)

Maybe Potion of Undead Slayer applied to weapons are in the works for those trained in weaponry.
Killing those skeletons 2x was not a big improvement imo, if it takes magic skill to get around it, then I hope for something similar for melee warriors.

It would make sense if bashing reduces skeletons to dust so they don't resurrect, axes do similar for chopping up zombies etc

They should let you deal a coup de grace to it while it is down.

Actually I want a magic bow with magic arrows that doesn't cost reagents to use, to kill them dag nab it skells :D and I don't like using reagents for diff arrows skills, if i wanted a reagent user char, i'd make a magic type char. ah well....

Every character build "uses reagents": pure physical melee players use healthy doses of repair kits...
