    NWN1 and NWN2 were great. (Neverwinter Nights 1 & 2)

NWN1 also had some really impressive Persitent Worlds with deep player housing!

Oh speaking of player housing, i made a player housing mod/plugin for NWN2 a while ago :p
    (i was bored) http://www.nexusmods.com/neverwinter2/mods/883/?

I think the NWN1 community was amazing, but I kept trying and I just couldn't get through the campaign. It was exceedingly boring.

Yeah, the custom Persistent Worlds and Modules were by far better than the campaign.

I pondered a bit about what game(s) i would put on this list, but i quickly realised that games that i think you should play, are no longer relevant, because they are outdated.

MY List of games you "must" have played:

    -Half Life (all of them)
Half life was gamechanging when it came to First person shooters .. but if you look back at it now its just " meh " , due to how much things have changed. So you dont need to play this NOW. You need to have played it when it came out in the 90's.

    -Ultima Online
Changed my life in so many ways. Right now i don't care about it too much anymore, and its nothing you "need" to play when you got Sota, which is superior in so many ways.

    -Resident Evil
First two games on Playstation1 . Oh.My.God. So many cries and sleepless nights.

I'll just list some of the most memorable to me:

Morrowind (Skyrim is a better game but I still feel Morrowind has a more unique feeling world because it focuses on the Dunmer instead of notvikings)
Dark Souls (I think the second one is mechanically superior but lacks when it comes to the world and level design)
Shadow of the Colossus (Also ICO is a great game too with some great puzzles)
    Twilight Princess
    Super Metroid
    The Settlers
    Dreamweb
Ultima VII (the only one I have actually played as well!)
    Suikoden 2
    Final Fantasy XII
Symphony of the Night (My other favourite is Castlevania 4)
    Chrono Trigger

Minecraft (not really a laid out RPG unless you do modded) - because it reminded me that looks were not everything about a game. I forgot that somewhere along the way. Imagination can make up for a lot of things and sandboxes were fun things to play in.

My list would have to include games that are no longer as good as they once were, or are no longer in existence thanks to an Extremely Annoying company... some of course can still be gotten and played.

These Games influenced my life the most and helped me become the person i am today..

Ultima 5 - It was this game alone that helped me while I was a teenager. It set my focus from where it was going to where it went. There is a very distinct pivotal point in my life with this one.
Dark Age of Camelot - I learned of real friends and family. DaoC was not only a well thought out, well developed game. The Realm Vs Realm concept was fantastic and the whole story still today has me missing my little lurikeen.
Ultima Online - Again taught me where friends are friends, family is family.. and the reds tasted good on an open fire.
Second Life - For me this was a thing, yes it was. I am the DJ I am today because of this game. I spent 18 hours a day DJ'ing in the clubs in Second Life (yes there actually was more then the indescible things in there).
Shroud of the Avatar - Do you really need to ask? :p

Games That just *Had* to be played:

    Ultima Underworld: Stygian Abyss
Ultima All of them!! except 9... Although 9 did teach me what melted CDs looked like and how well they flew out the window :D
Earth And Beyond - Westwood games
Might and Magick: World/Clouds of Xeen
Final Fantasy Tactics, 4, 8!!!! okay yes, all of them.. even if they lost the whole idea of STORY the graphics are still pretty epic!
Star Wars Galaxies .... TOR was okay, but Galaxies was great up until they handed out Jedi like candy and made me want to strangle all of them for torturing me with 17 holocrons to open mine!
    Tabula Rasa
Star Control II - I drove my parents crazy until i got this game.
    Skyrim
    Oblivian
    MorrowWind
    LOTRO
    Rift
Legacy of Kain: (all of them but more specifically - > Blood Omen)
    Asheron's Call
    Anarchy Online
The Sims 1- 4 and online
    Sim Cities
    Streets of Sim City
    Minecraft
Everquest 2 (1 never kept my attention because i was annoyed at being spammed to death to understand anything anyone said)
Grand Theft Auto (all of them)
    Saints Row (all of them)
    Vampire the Masquerade
    Wonderboy I & II

Oh... and of course can not forget my child hood favorite... LEGEND OF THE RED DRAGON!

I wrote an epic IGM for LORD that was bigger than LORD itself.

I also wrote a few really brief modules for the PHP web spin-off of LORD called Legend of the Green Dragon.

A quick Google search shows a few sites still running a copy of LotGD with some of my modules.
