I just try to craft some kind of candles without any luck. Street Lamp does not look with inside a basement :p.

What do you use for lighting up your basements ?

Use the large wall sconces. I think they work the best. You can buy them off the decorations vendors. There is one in Wizards Rest but also Owlshead has vendors above the bank.

I use a combination of wall torches and brazers. The wall torches, in particular, are very bright. The screen shot is a couple of months old at least, but it illustrates what I did with lighting.

The screen shot may be a bit deceiving, but it's a village sized basement. The town and city basements are much larger. This one has 5 levels to it.

I also have a village lot. The one you see in the screen shot is the Village Stone 5-story Basement.

That's one of my peeves about the game. I understand having to buy / craft the torches, but I think the homes / basements should either come with a couple of them already, or at least have the sconces in place.

I dont light it...the fact that you need to zone (again) just to reach it is a "no go" imho.

maybe I'll have a look after final wipe...right now I dont feel like spending 5 minutes on housing or things related.

I've never really cared about having to zone in to my basement.. I always just considered it my zone...

At first I was very irritated by no lighting in the arena basement.. but I've come to embrace it... like building my area from a truly base level...

I will have to try the large torch lights. The small wall candles don't light enough to be worth their cost. Last night I entered my house and I think their was more light outside than inside. I am at my house limit for interior lights and still can't see anything.

I wanted to see just how much lighting costs would be for any basement, which caused me to just keep going and build some underground Inns. They are just outside my lots side by side with my vendor identifying them.

You can do allot with a village size basement
I turned my 5 story village basement into an Inn in "Wizards Rest" just above Owls Head :)

   ~Lighting~
I didn't have much gold to get started, so I used wall candles first which took allot of them to do. I added a few brasers, a little room décor, a few bed rolls and placed one of my servants down there as the Inn Keeper.

    ~Town 5 Story~
I did the same with my town size 5 story, yet am in the proses of replacing the candle lighting with wall torches which provide much more light than any candle could.

My basements are something that keeps me motivated to go hunting because in gold for the lighting alone... "I'm poor" :(
But they are both functional now.

 Wow! Do those things actually grow down there?
That's the coolest thing I've ever seen done with a basement :D

I hope they stay growing down there through and after release date.... o_O
Because it's just so cool  @Alexander

I haven't tried it in this release, so it probably will still grow, but much slower now.

I used to have a basement with crafting stations. Next to each station I had a simple shelf on the wall with a trunk on it. On the trunks were lanterns. Because they were so high up they lit up the basement just about as well as the more expensive wall torches.

I bought 10 of the torch lights tonight and placed them in my house and basement. What a difference in light from the small wall candles. I need to get a few more for the basement and a few dark spots still in the house. Pretty happy with these! Thanks OP!

Yep. I bought torches too now and they work great. Thanks for the tip.

For me it's wall torches as they are the most illuminating.
I still keep playing around with different coloured lights.
Here's some tests involving wall torches, a tripod brazier, a bowl brazier, and a battle banner.
Not a cheap way of doing it as you need a town arena basement, and the banner. Will try it one day with multiple banners to see if it is brighter :)
