I would be behind all 4 of those suggestions. I love the chaotic factor suggested where you end up "near" your location. It punishes you in a fun way for having too much power. Regional runes types.... eh.. could really get behind that idea.

Zero burden, they don't even know I'm doing it. I can see where they are, I can simply teleport to the closet friend to my end destination. It usually turns a 10-20 travel into a 1-2 minute one.

    Pretty simple actually.

Well if it is just the starting point that is the problem...why not "simply" change the logon screen?
You can see a small map. Next to this map is a small Icon-Bar with most of the larger cities across this map + one button with your last position + one button with your binding point.
Moving your mouse above on one of the buttons highlights the region on the map and by clicking on the button your avatar is "materializing" at this position.

(Additionally: Maybe just one of the cities is usable at start and you have to visit the town and completed a quest line to use each of the other city-buttons.)

To stop misusage your last login-selection would have to be fixed for e.g. 30 minutes.
Now you could start your adventure where you would like without the need to set multiple binding points.

So, you've cherry-picked my sentence to meet your needs. Um.. good job, I think.

Cons (to rune book type system)

1: it will bypass most of the player owned towns.(honestly nobody goes into random pots anyways)

2: the ability to bypass control points like eastreach gap.

Are these the only reasons for limiting fast travel that can be thought of?

30 hours of pure adventuring fun :)
    #ProOneBindPoint

Edit: also, take your 1-3 hours of gameplay per day, for 365 days = 365-1095 hours of your life you're wasting anyway playing a game that will contribute nothing to your real-life existence and that enriched zero lives around you meaningfully... I'd say those "30 hours" are the least of your worries.

We should all be playing outside and investing in real people anyway.

i'd rather not. the Evil Day Star is out there, and at least we can turn each other off with single player online.

I take it you play alone.....
So, if it's - oh, say 10pm - and my family is all asleep - who should I go out and find that I may "enrich" their lives?
And what about the "real" people who I play with on a daily basis in SotA? Do they count?

Then why are you spending time here in this game forum, when you could clearly be out enriching people's lives?

Personally, my involvement in financing this game is more of a memorial to someone I care for dearly.

The more I play games the more I realize there are so many better uses of one's time. At the end of your life are, with you really going to look at how much time you spent in any given game and feel like you lead a full life? Probably not.

    Just my opinion.

I understand wanting to just "veg out" every now and then and just chill, just for the record. Everything in moderation.
