It used to be 2 ingots for a ring, now it is 5 wire coils. To make one wire coil requires 2 ingots, so now a ring takes 10 ingots?

That is more than a pair of boots or gloves. (2-3 sheets aka 6-9 ingots)

That is a very very heavy ring if 10 ingots lol.

    Please fix

In theory it isn't so much a ring as brass knuckles now. ^^

Course there is also the fact that the new recipe doesn't make use of ring molds that can still be purchased.

So rings are no longer cast at the smelter with a ring mold? I could understand having the ring/blacksmith method as an alternate, or for a higher quality ring or something, but yeah. 10 ingots is insanely high.

With 10 ingots you can add more bonus' than that of a 2-Handed Sword. (blade = 5 ingots, hilt = 2 ingots).

No, you cannot. Defensive bonuses are much weaker than offensive(per bonus) and some of them are entirely useless on an item that doesn't have base stats.
