How do you define accomplishing something in SOTA? Simple question on the face of it. Be honest, how do you define a 'win' in this game?

I want to be the only hero to save the world, kill the dragon and rescue the princess! Oh wait...

Until a very short time ago, I was focused on solo'ing the Ghost Corpion. Succeeded twice! No luck with the new release =)

A few wipes ago I tried to do all the quests. Another round was crafting the best weapons / armor. Another was focused on crafting decorations and decorating a house. So really... whatever strikes my fancy.

To me accomplishing something in SOTA means creating something from nothing. It could be a story, a play, a poem, a tiny movie or a quest. SotA lets me be creative, and that's what I love most about the game.

The player kill I just got a few moments ago in the Grunvald Shardfall was a win for me!

What if Portralarim made it such that you could only craft the best weapons and armor if you paid the most?

What if Portalarium made it such that you could only PvP if you met a $1000 donation threshold?

What if the government doubled the rate of income tax?

Difference is, one is likely to happen (SOTA) and the other not (US gov).

I disagree with your assessment of relative likelihood.

Yes, using your vague measure of accomplishment of 'creating something from nothing,' which can be fulfilled by the simplest of actions, I can see how your view can be accurate.

Here's a small sample of those "simplest of actions":

I praise you highly on your own actions, but in the grand scheme of things you can define those more specifically, and honestly probably produce the same in many things...

My goal is an active vibrant PoT with friends. I habe no desire to be the best in something or to be hero.

What if I drew a circle around you with a stick and said: "that is your PvP zone?"

Winning means to me (not necessarily in this order):
    • very gradually complete the main story line and all the side quests I can find.
    • talk to all the NPCs. I've been ignoring most of them so far.
    • explore all the 1-4 skull unique scenes, so I can find my way around them.
    • gradually level up enough to be able to explore 5-skull areas by myself
    • adventure in a party so I can experience content that I will never be able to survive alone, e.g. dungeons like the Rise, holding a control point (haven't done that since way back -R18?), visting populated PVP areas (won't survive there long even in a party :))
    • Experience player-made content in-game as @Womby describes. Create some books of my own and distribute them.
    • Find new players to help and share things
    • Live in a community of friendly and helpful neighbors (Rift's End)
    • Discover places with stunning views
    • Become adept at jumping
