Seriously? I finished patching a couple days ago (at 35kb) hoping to finally play R38 for the first time this weekend to see if they fixed the Path of Love (I'm not holding my breath on that one). Now there are 3 more 1.5gb patches that need to be downloaded? LOL! Let's see how long that takes me to patch at 35kb. Maybe I'll be able to play before R39 kicks off.

    Yeah, Yeah....pre alpha/early release....

your probably better off koldar if your patching threw steam while it resets the download if they make a change to the patch you only download the more recent one so if you still on the first one you'll only have to download the final third one and hopefully the weekend will be patch free

Are you using the sota downloader or something else (I.e. steam)?

Yes, Steam seem to be the way to go when it comes to downloading the patches. All the patches downloaded very quickly for me on Steam today.

Why someone would possibly run SOTA not through steam is beyond me.

2017 - Exactly, why would you link a game account that you might ever get rid of and might have some kind value to sale off to someone else. Can't do that easily with a Steam Account. The smooth patches don't supersede that IMO.

Because I don't like Steam, nor wish to have any of my accounts linked to Steam.

    May i ask why?
I can see the frustration if you intend to sell an account... but for an average player of just about any casual game.. why not?

Personal preference... I'm no real objection to Steam, I just don't wish to be bound to them. For many people... perhaps most people... Steam may be the answer to many prayers. For those people... Have at.

    I didn't back Steam.

I picked up a second account at a sale through steam. I use that account to patch and then jsut login with my main login.
