This is just about what player you are.

Cooperative casual - you play mostly/ only PvE and very casual let's say 10-20 hrs/ week
You like it to be hard to get further but see it as a long term motivation and challenge and
neither in no haste nor feel behind because you do not compete in anyway.

Cooperative progress - you play mostly/ only PvE but progress oriented, like raids, hardcore Dungeons, grind is your main profession etc.. and play more than 20 hrs/ week

    Competetive casual
    - you like PvP more than PvE but have not much time to develop your char and need a lot of time to be competetive. But you are willing to make it once.

    Competetive progress
    - you go for PvP and efficiency , want it to be hardcore challenging and thrilling all time and for everyone! No mercy, no compromise, eat or die!

Maybe this are the archetypes we have, maybe i miss something, feel free to comment.

What I want to know is, what should the developers adress more developing.
PvE or PvP , hardcore or casual content???

I am type one but also type three, you can choose 2 options!

I'm single-player story oriented. Attention should be focused on completing the story scenes, then expand the world from there.

But this will not happen. There are not enough vocal single-player people, so focus will remain on keeping the MMO folks engaged.

I like to play very casually for very many hours a week, and cooperate with other players to compete against other players :).

2 opts not enough for me ;)

Exactly the problem. Aside from Darkmoon, most of the people who are interested in the single-player story driven aspect of this game are quietly waiting till it is in final. I suspect that many will be disappointed when they finally load the game up at final release.

I'm around 7 to 12 hours a day in the game at the moment. I guess I would be considered cooperative and competitive progress since I spend at least 20 hours a week in each of those modes. Missing the roleplay / mentoring / decorating / crafting / writing which also take quite a bit of time and may not fit under progress or casual. If you are bored you are not doing it right there is lots of stuff to do that is not boring.

This was more about if you are casual or progress oriented and if you are more pvp competetive or PvE cooperative.
I think progress and competetive are somewhat aligned , because to be competetive you have to progress oriented and vice versa the more casual players tend to be cooperative as they cannot spend so much time into it to go for any competition, also the "competition" of a fast progress.

Like your last sentence, especially because you spend much time and don't feel bored but entertained while see you have much to do. Like it!
There was another poll about playstyles what was much more detailed, but maybe I should do another poll about what the players do most time of the time while online.

PvE, PvP , Crafting, RP, Decorating, writing, Community Events...

I think a lot of the single-player people have gotten discouraged (like me) and gone away. I haven't been on the forum in a long time. Luckily there are plenty of other single-player RPG's out right now to draw my attention away from SOTA.

I came to be a merchant. I've pretty much consumed all of that "content" and now just restock vendors once in a while, so not on as much as before. With better merchant tools I would probably spend more time running sales instead of just listing once and leaving it.

I'm hoping the sandbox part comes to fruition. I'd like to see plays put on at the theater. I'd like to see what people do beyond the towns, some of which are spectacular.

I expect to do the quests and PvE all the way through with a few friends, slowly, over a couple of months (or more if it takes longer at a few hours a night.) I decided a while ago to only do it once the experience is closer to done or is done.

We'll see how the quest UI and camera setup turns out, though. Time is precious, particularly with my friends, so it needs to be compelling to the point where they are excited to join me, or it'll just be myself and Viola doing it alone until we peter out.

And grinding is so 1990's. I'll only put up with it if the rest of the experience makes up for it.
