Arkah's ABC songs!

Was mining today and felt like stopping to play a song about it. The resulting ABC file ensued ^^



While the above is a song i made up, these two are overworld songs from SotA. When i first joined SotA, a dude named Mystic told me how the devs were letting folks make songs for the game, and recommended some production software for me. While i was able or confident enough to attempt to make and submit a song, this did lead to an ability to more easily create ABC files when they came later ^^

The first song is the old Overworld theme from when the overworld was jsut a cloth-looking map made of hexes. I think a guy named Quetzacoatl made it, but im not 100% on that. i know he made some music for the game.

The second is a short version of the current overworld theme from SotA.



This one i made on a good day, when i didnt have much to do but was feelin alright about it. I called it "Optomistic"



This is SImple Life by Sir Elton John. I thought it converted really well and played very well on the 1 man band!

What is this production software you use?

 

Are you going to share the ABC files as well? The videos are cool, but having more songs to play would be great.

Been workin on a few neat things
Drum conversion guide for converting the individual drum sounds to match thier closest SotA Tabor drum counterpart! still workin on it. Im told maestro can do this automatically but starbound converter does not! It's pretty much just a list. But starbound has a search/replace function when editing the ABC that makes it easy to convert all the individual notes.

New experiments with Echoing! Can hear it in "Sigma". Also been experimenting with combining instruments to mimic other sounds (like distortion guitars!). Only song i do that in atm is Fire and the Flames by Dragonforce, but its a 6 part band song and cant be played by myself.

@Vas Corp Por @Attenwood If you watch the whole video you can experience the Sync issues that make it difficult to play in larger bands.

To hear the best-synced attempt, fast forward to 26 minutes. Harpsichord was still not synced 100% correctly but it was the best attempt we had

 

If we're going to source 99.99% of our .abcs off of midi tracks it might be worth pursuing a drum kit with cymbals someday... cool conversion grid... curious on the sync issues, who is playstarting? I've found sometimes the person who created the instance first has a better chance of pulling off a clean /playstart

 

It was me playstarting but i dont think i was first. We will try that.

Also i forgot about that drum conversion guide, ill update it with the one i use now when i get off work

 

I get lost in the day-to-day spreadsheets and database tables and Jira tasks and standup reports... When I come and find stuff like this has been going on in the game, my heart soars. Well done, all!

(And always know that I keep my eye out for the improvements that can make this stuff better, and push on them when I can)
