    Hello again,

I seem to be having an incredible lot of issues trying to get .abc and .mml files to play for SotA. I often get "broken record" loops if the song is even a tiny bit complex, and sometimes I will get no playback at all or extremely sparse notes.

I've not been able to find anything within the forums about it despite searching (perhaps I didn't do it properly) but I am trying very hard to attempt to figure out what it is that is going wrong.

With the issues I am having currently I could speculate all day as to what and why, but without some official feedback I'm afraid I won't know. I'm hoping someone may be able to shed a little insight for me.

The "broken record" loops seems to stem from song complexity and could likely be something related limitations within whatever is translating these filetypes into songs, however without knowing specifications for complexities we will not know what will break (if it is supposed to break at all) and what will not.

The notes, in many many cases, not playing could be due to a lack of actual appropriate musical range. Again, without knowing what the limitations of the ranges are I can't transcribe music reliably for it.

Anyone with a shred or two of wisdom (aside from a redundant "it is pre-alpha it is not finished" obviousness) who could lend me a hand or dozen?

My bardy fingers are itching, and it's not a rash (this time at least, promise!)

Yes there is a 'known' issue with lutes playing. In the meantime try another instrument. In all my tests all songs I had trouble with played on other instruments except the Lute;)

I will buy myself an add-on harp just to try this, thank you!

Update: Still issues with music not playing!

Further Update: I have learned that there is possibly a 3-channel limit!

Further FURTHER Update: Unable to get .abc files to transcribe, only .mml files and the .mml files are limited to 3-channels (at least with the software I am using to transcribe.)

Any software recommendations for converting MIDI into .abc or .mml reliably?

If you'd like to troubleshoot your .abc then I might be able to help. Please use something like https://pastebin.com/
    I'm not familiar with .mml

I also enjoy 'maestro', it was written for another game though that I recently learned only could handle 3 octaves.
