New Font (2 Thumbs Up)

Way to go, Port. Loving the new in-game font. Looks sharp and easy to read.

Everybody else digging it?

 

I like it too but I don't like the health line outlined under it.

I dont like it, but right now I think I am just reacting to lack of familiarity. I will re-evaluate how I feel after a month or two, and may change my opinion.

I loved the old font. Was it hard to read? What was the reason for the change? It actually felt very Ultima-like, something about both the font and the thickness of the outline reminded me of U9 and the UO interface (even though I think it was new font to the Ultima world).

The new font is like, too business for me. Its all serious, streamlined curves, orthagonal lines, Im not entirely sure but it feels less video-gamey to me. The old font yelled "fun" at me but not in a soccer mom comic sans kind of way.

We shall see. I think I am just projecting some discomfort over unexpected change onto the new guy.

 

I like the modern, business-y feel. Think it bridges a bit of the steampunk/fantasy vibe.

I'll have to look at that, Majoria. Honestly, my first reaction was 'Whooppeeee, me likey' and I ran and made a thread about it.

 

I dont mind the font....but i do not like the size and coloring. I just got new glasses and now i cant read that small stuff. Luckily i know where alot of stuff is and dont need to strain to see it. The banner for zones and towns is fine....but the translated text underneath is too small and the color is hard to read until right on top of it. Same with party names and pet bars....very hard to read especially if they are in another area.....about to pull out the binoculars so i can read the screen

 

Screen-Shot anyone? I'm on the road watching via the forums.

 

To me, it looks like they're finally using signed distance field rendering of the text glyphs. Before, nameplates looked lumpy and awful. Now they're nice and smooth with a black border to help separate the text from the background.

 

I was pleasantly surprised with the font change. I am digging it.
