waiting to play for 2 year and..

still no new character hairstyles, beards or customization at all? i was hoping that this would have at least been done by now. i want to feel a litttttleee unique, more unique than now. i like my characters in rpgs. this bugs me. i wish it didnt bother me, or i would play. ~_~

if it has been brought up that they will add more customization soon then sorry, but i felt the need to post.

 

I dont know for sure, but I heard you can get haircuts in adoris, dont know if this is new or not, I don't care about looks.

 

You can go to the new-you salon in Ardoris and change every aspect of your avatar (just like the mirror on the Isle of Storms) but it'll cost you cotos.

 

so you are saying new styles for your character are ridiculously limited in character creation? what are cotos?

 

I feel like 2 years ago there were fewer options - but I would imagine there's still work to be done on the existing styles. You're right that there could be more of them at last check (my last check was in 2016 when I made my character).

You can also buy these with ingame gold at player vendors in Britanny Alleys, New Britannian Market (POT) & other places.

 

The options at the new you salon are no different than character setup at the beginning of the game,but if you made your character a long time ago, there are a couple more options now, like the Norgard braids. I'm hoping for more variety too!

Hi Benn289. Yes character customization is still limited. One problem I think has been our character artist also does creatures and is spread too thin.

Hopefully a little more will come before launch and imo one reward for playing and testing post launch should be a new you token and a quest reset token. I am not resetting quests until last minute.

I do happen to like how my character is looking but I would definitely appreciate richer hair coloring, improve eye coloring which is more faded than it was, lip coloring would be very nice, and eye shadow and I would love to get earrings, pierced ears male and female options and improved Male character who looks pretty old imo.

@DarkStarr @Berek, @ devs. Can you please give us an update on characters being updated and how much we can expect before launch?

 

About the New You

I wanted to try the Norgard Style, but you have to pay before you can see anything.
Well i unlikely spent Crowns for something i cannot pre view if I'd like it or not.
Give us a preview and if we like, we pay.
And yes more hairstyles please.

I dont like having all vikings wear the same hairstyle.
Until i stick to the 2 braids, but its not what i want or like that much.
I want open long Hair.

 

If I don't want to use COTOs for roleplaying reasons I'm bummed ?

I was against any money from the obsidians before they even existed.

 

FYI, I think that if you use New You, your COTOs are gone even if you make no change.

And there is a preview, simply go into offline mode and start a new character. If you do this on a second computer, you can even leave the character creation screens up while you use New You to copy the changes over.

Also, remember that they intend for COTOs to be (rare) drops. Purchasing them in the cash shop is not the only way to get them. And of course you can buy them from someone else in-game.

 

He's not asking about the New You, he's asking if there are new styles that didn't exist 2 years ago.

There is 1 new hairstyle, it's a nice one, but as far as I know that is it.

@Benn289 the Devs are on 1 month release cycles. What will probably happen is we are one day pleasantly surprised because one of the artists has spent several weeks working on new options, and boom, there they are.

Up until that point we'll think they are never going to come. But they will come. Hopefully before launch, because character customization is very important for new players!

and to be honest i have 1500 hours in the game i never looted a COTO!

i lootet exactly 1 Iron, 1 Copper, 1 Meteoric Crown until
dont tell me this is something they dont want to earn money with

 

IF there was a coto in my loot I'd leave it there, bad karma

 

that reminds me of neon hair deeds in UO, before they added the 500k NPC vendor. If they went with tradable items you would not find yourself in a vanity/ethos dilemma. Basically everything else available for coto is otherwise tradeable.

man. can you imagine spending 500k on hair in sota? and 2k on a set of armor?

OK just so I can understand here.... are you saying you have been sitting on the sidelines not playing the game because you don't like how the character looks? With all there is to do to get a game to market, while I too might like to see more customization I think that's more of a thing to worry about after you have a good working game. One thing you might wanna try is playing the game.. and wear a helm.. or even a shroud
