First thing you plan to do ingame?

Now we don't know that will be the case, and there will be a gate or opening. Beside it doesn't matter. When I was younger there was an old couple who owned a house next to my bus stop. They were out there almost every day yelling at the kid that passed to stay off their lawn: even though we were using the sidewalk. Once a bully threw my bookbag on their lawn and after I grabbed it and ran the guy followed me in his car yelling at me all the way home.

Crazy exists. Just wait and see.

 

Hopefully, only in your house On the other hand, it could be fun to see the guards chasing you through the streets in their attempt to arrest you for indecent exposure...

I think the first thing after waiting for so long will be to sit down in the tavern and have a drink. Maybe after I will try and explore a little tipsy of course.

 

I hear they're considering a new stretch goal - if met, we'll be able to walk over small rocks and the 2ft fence around our yard

That definitely qualifies as crazy!

 

1. Explore the starting town and get as much information as I can about the surroundings. Gather as much equipment as possible and then begin exploring the world.

2. I'm not big on crafting but I am big on the crafting system. Once I've done enough exploring to know where a lot of resources are I'll see if it's possible to barter these resources for their crafted result. In other words: I would become a labor intensive merchant that trades to better my gear.

3. Once my toon isn't as soft as a marshmallow I'll really begin branching out into the story and wilderness. By this time I've had a good taste of combat and I've trained my character up to be somewhat safe from highwaymen.

4. Housing. This is the very last thing that I plan to do. It will probably put me way behind all the other players and if it's that difficult to find a place then I'll do it offline. If I were thrown into an alternate dimension then finding a house is the very last thing I would be concerned with. Getting back home would probably be my primary motive during the entire game.

I hope they don't have any in-game tutorial.

 

They will kind of need one. Just because we will know how to play from months of beta testing... I just hope it's completely skipable without skipping any tutorial benefits and has no plot signifigance.

 

Here's my game plan.
Step 1. Horde gold
Step 2. Purchase Aquatic Bird

 

Assuming that the Virtues exist in this game (I keep wondering what the "Forsaken Virtues" part is), I'm going to find all the shrines and other such holy places, such as the equivalent of Empath Abbey.

 

1. Brew lots of beer
2. Drink lots of beer
3. Pick a fight with a windmill

Find the starter quest NPC and initiate the first quest! (after picking my race and class of course).

 

I'm not sure I know enough yet to really decide.

First I'm going to settle where I'll live. If items don't decay on the floor of homes I'm throwing everything down in a pile and heading out into town. If they do I'll have to find a storage chest.

In town the first stop will be extra bags! Second stop will be information gathering and exploration... then once I'm confident in a direction I'll wander off in it.

I'm a bit afraid to jump right in and act without thought. Next thing you know those kobolds you killed while wandering were really a friendly convoy heading to see the Oracle and I'll be fighting my way out of the Clink.

I'm also putting finding The Bear Tavern as one of the first things on my list!

 

Most likely die is a most embarrassing way. My first death in UO was in front of a big crowd and to a chicken! I rolled a mage and hadn't understood the attributes when creating my character. Up until the day i left i had a illogical compulsion to murder every one i saw. I still feel the sting of the insults slung at me by those who saw it happen.

 

I'll probably jump on the forums on ask the devs why Episode II isn't out yet.
