So while we were discussing the movement key scheme we hit upon the
    Double-tap
    behavior of the WASD keys.

Where double-tap of ASD will make a combat roll if you are in combat mode.

So does anyone ever use that on purpose?

Haven't seen it used in the PvP tournaments for years. Which is also about when I gave up on them and just disabled them in the options.

    Happy hunting

AFAIK, the rolls don't actually DO anything yet. That's why I don't use them.. they just lock you in an animation and allow free hits to yourself... unless this changed and I missed it?

Don't forget you can avoid most melee hits with the combat roll!

oh wait no longer April 1st.

    no, never use it!

would be cool if it did something indeed!

Nice, I didn't know you could disable it!

I couldn't tell you how many times I've died because of combat roll. Thanks for the heads up!

The back flip is good for cliff diving. Other than that, no.

What's the intention with the poll? Hopefully not to remove them. I use them for playing around with. Love what Duffrey is able to doing in his full plate then and of course that we have them :).

When I first started playing SOTA - I had been playing Guild Wars 2 - and the combat rolls were an important part of PVE and PVP in that - however with SOTA, I was trying to use them similarly, such as dodging things like the troll's boulder throw, etc - which didn't work at all - so they were more cosmetic than useful - so I turned them off and keep them off.

Plus with SOTA, the timing of anything movement related like that is pretty unusable unless you are the scene master.

Mostly curiosity. Since I have not tried using them for years.

But also since Chris is changing the jumping scheme so I thought that proposing a new movement scheme would be prudent once that hits QA.

Where if the majority are not using them for their supposed combat value then they need to be fixed. Where if it was me I'd tie them to a skill. The higher that skill is the more defensive bonus from a roll kinda thing.

Nope, don't use them. I turned it off after accidentally rolling off a bridge and dying.

From what I saw it did nothing in combat. If a creature started its swinging animation it would hit me regardless of my distance away from it. Not sure if this has been changed since the last time I tried it out.

    Yes.

    Off the edge of cliffs.

I leave them on because if they ever become useful, I don't want to have forgotten they exist.

If they do nothing, the quickest fix would be to add laugh sound to them, and make them combat rofls

i only accidentally use them while not hitting the keys twice - but th einternet lag may be that interprets them as be hit twice

A while ago I suggested they tie bonuses for combat rolls into the Light Armor skill tree.

From What Light Armor combat should look like,

    Holy cow, amazing post!

I had to skim because I'm cooking, but I think you've nailed or shed light on a lot of stuff in there.

You immediately made me wonder "Why can I even combat roll in heavy armor?"

And then made me want my light armor skills tied to it. Pushing left and hit dodge? Combat roll. Or Evade, or tumble. Something! Don't make it an automatic but worthless thing.

Anyway, you said it all way better, everyone read that post!
