4 hours, that's what the price of the Oracle should be.

Release 22 is going to be over before I ever see this loot.

I also think there should be a way to speed this up if you pay more gold (sink). Maybe you can bump it up to 2 hours if you pay half the price of the ransom (you being the killer)?

I think that would be a fantastic way to *nudge* players to make a decision.

    Risk vs. Reward.

Also, trophies should be full loot. They should never have a ransom.

I'd have to +1 this even though I won't be on the correct end of most fights and don't PVP much.

The other part of this is the ransom amount.

It doesn't show it in the screen shot, but there are actually 11 mandrake root. So if we use the 20 gold amount that's being used by the NPC's, that's 220 out of the 490 gold the Oracle came up with for a fair price. The cloth shoes (actually boots) might be listed at 40 gold max by the game. That's assuming they're player made. So the rest is either an arbitrary percentage markup or somehow this guy's hand is work 230 gold.

My point is that the ransom amount is arbitrary. I understand that the development team can't really do better than that right now in the middle of pre-alpha testing. But I'm not sure we can do any better even if we had 10 years of data to analyze. So what I'd like to see is a ransom price built on supply and demand of the individual player as well as the global market.

    Example:

Pretend Balandar really cares about his cloth shoes. At least, it seems that way because any time he gets looted and his cloth shoes are in the loot, he buys them back (pays the ransom). So everytime he pays for these cloth shoes, we bump up the markup on cloth shoes for Balandar. Meanwhile, he never seems to care about mandrake root. So we lower the price of mandrake root in the ransom.

We should also consider the global market pricing.

That's how I think that price should be set.

I hope that's what we have as soon as supply and demand are taken in consideration. Also, other systems should increase the ransom price, for example that "bonding" thing i've been hearing around! If i got your dearest sword that had accompanied you in thousands of battles... that should increase the ransom price. Socketed weapon? increased ransom. Crafted by Lord British? hell, you can't afford that back! :D

If the "Resolves" time is what you're talking about.. I'm not seeing 30 days?

Personally I value my body parts more than the lost items, those bearing my coat of arms some where in the middle.

Yeah, I don't see that in the screen shot I took either! HA!

They may have already changed it. When I first "tested" (by dying a lot) the loot system on QA it was 30 days. I don't think this was immediately changed for R22 but I could be wrong. It's been a long last few days full of crazy good pvp and rp.

So if this has been changed already, great! If not and there are still 30 days resolve time on some things, let's change that.

Yes, I kind of a feel the same way. Your reputation for being someone's trophy factory is much more important to preserve than replaceable items. :)

So now, today, this is what the same loot looks like...

    30 DAYS! ha!

It's the expire date. Not the resolve time. I'm not sure what exactly the difference is.

My guess is the resolve time is how long it takes for them to decide to pay the ransom or not, and the expire time is how long you have to claim the items.

Oh yeah, that's probably why it says GET ITEMS when I click on that line. FUNNY! I'm an idiot.

To Balandar: You let an idiot get your cloth boots, son! ;)

Ok, so the "real" value of this ransomed loot (now that I have the items), is 110 gold.

    Cloth Boots 0
    Mandrake Root (11) 110
    Balandar Hand 0

    The ransom was 490.

Interesting markup. I'd still like to see the ransom be much larger than that.

Lol, yeah, I went AFK waiting for day light as I never seem to be in Rats Nest during the day. I wanted to get a wide-screen shot of the city. This was the night-shot I got earlier.

Just a skeleton covered in hundreds of Balandar's hands walking into a tavern, "Hello fellow human, I desire your human liquids!"

Are you able to place my hand as decoration? Can we have a wall of hands?

    P.S. I grew a new one.

P.P.S. No, you may not have it.

    Ha!

Yes, I have your hand prominently placed as a paper weight in my study. I was hoping to get a matching set as I need some bookends. I'm not sure about wall decorations though, that's a good idea. I will let you know.
