    And most houses are lit.

    Awareness distance should be far lower at night generally.

    But in particular it shouldn't go outside of a shack Bandits are sitting around having a pint in. Ideally if they are partying, or sleeping, Avatars should be able to surprise and murder them all in a truly heroic fashion.
